What you will be doing

Under general direction of the Manager, IT Edge Solutions Team, the Mobile Application Developer III will develop quality, enterprise-class mobile & web applications, and innovative solutions that address business needs. In addition to daily project work, the Mobile Application Developer III will add to the collective knowledge and capabilities of the team through the exploitation of new technologies and development approaches and the free sharing of ideas within the team.

• Participates in all aspects of the software development process as required, including analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, deployment and support
• Excels in translating business and technical requirements into well-engineered, tested, and deployed solutions
• Maintains technical ownership of projects, applications and releases, acts as liaison to other technical teams, and provides troubleshooting and support as required
• Disseminates knowledge to rest of team as appropriate
• Assists in defining processes, procedures, tools, and standards for the IT Edge Solutions team
• Contributes to the achievement of AB organizational goals and objectives
• Passion and enthusiasm for building quality mobile software
• Intellectually curious, yet practical and focused; Self-motivated
• Strong user knowledge of the mobility space, including applications, standards, use cases and trends
• Ability to independently research solutions, evaluating their validity in solving the problem at hand
• Comfortable working in a fluid environment; accepting of change and sometimes unclear requirements
• Team-orientation and mutual respect are essential to this role. Incumbent is able to handle the normal give and take between team members and strives to resolve conflicting approaches through acceptable compromises
• Basic understanding of business fundamentals and the role of IT within the organization
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with both technical and functional teams
• Strong organizational skills with a natural attention to detail
• Accountability in identifying and communicating risks and dependencies

What your background should look like

Bachelor's degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. Typically have 5-10 years of application programming and analysis experience. Has a broad level of understanding surrounding information systems and application architecture standards. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions. Experience designing, developing and testing applications using proven or emerging technologies in a variety of technologies and environments.

• Seven (7) or more years of native/cross-platform mobile application development experience for the iOS or Android platforms preferred, and demonstrated experience in several of the following areas:
  
  • Experience working in Xamarin or Xamarin Forms
  • Proficiency coding in C#
  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OO Design
  • In-depth understanding of Objective-C, iOS SDKs, XCode, Java for Android and related development technologies
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and take on challenging research opportunities
  • Knowledge of one or more design patterns including MVC/MVP/MVVM
  • Cloud integration using RESTful web services and JSON
  • Diagnose complex issues, evaluate, recommend, and execute the best resolution
• Knowledge of enterprise-related mobile development challenges such as back-end and cloud integration, app security, scalability, and performance
• Familiarity with source code version control systems including concepts such as trunks and branches
• Knowledge of, and the ability to apply, standard UXD principles as they relate to the target platform
• Thrives working within an Agile environment, this team has a shared commitment to accountability and consensus building
• Position requires a degree in computer science, information systems or related field
• Advanced programming skills in several programming languages
• Advanced understanding of relational database design and theory
• Ability to translate complicated business requirements into multiple solution options and explain the pros/cons of various approaches
• Advanced knowledge of Object-Orient Design Patterns and use cases for applying them
• Java for Android
