What We’re Looking for

The mobile team at Afero builds highly rated apps for Android and iOS to set up and configure smart home products in just a few minutes. Afero provides tight integration among App, Cloud and Hardware for our systems. As we scale and grow, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Mobile Applications Engineering Manager to lead and inspire our mobile app engineering team to build best in class, easy to use features for the app. Looking for candidates located in California, Texas, Georgia, Masssachusetts, or Utah.

Candidates would be expected to:

• Lead Afero’s cross platform mobile app engineering team in developing new features and functionality based on Flutter.
• Work with product, business and engineering teams to develop strategic roadmap and execution plans
• Design and execute best scalable cross platform architecture for Afero’s multiple customers by collaboratively working with other engineering teams
• Hire and expand teams (remote and local) to meet roadmap requirements
• Onboard, mentor and motivate exceptional engineers (remote and local) to be productive players of the team
• Collaborate with other Afero Mobile app engineers, designers, and product managers to build solutions that delight our customers and end users
• Actively participate in code reviews, unit and integration test plan development and deployment
• Analyze and optimize applications for efficiency and performance.
• Communicate clearly and effectively about deliverables, design and architecture choices to rest of the company
• Hands on coding and implementation of features and help with resolution of issues reported
• And other duties as assigned

Candidates should have the following at a minimum:

• 8+ years of experience in mobile design patterns, building mobile frameworks / SDKs, building custom UX widgets and optimization of apps for performance.
• Experience in leading a team of mobile engineers, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality mobile applications.
• Experience with profiling and debugging mobile applications.
• Strong technical background and analytical abilities in software design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Deep knowledge and experience in developing apps using cross platform frameworks such as flutter
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Have the right to work legally in the USA.

The following skills and experiences are also valued:

• Deep knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Swift, Objective-C, C/C++.
• Experience in Android Studio and Xcode.
• Experience in developing frequently updated apps for consumer products.
• Experience in developing mobile applications that integrate with hardware devices or IoT devices.
