About the role

• Seeking a solid and experienced mobile developer with both iOS and Android platform knowledge. This position requires a minimum 3 years of experience developing mobile iOS / Android apps and proven knowledge of network protocols like HTTP, HTTPS, VPN, Bluetooth. Strong knowledge of the Android platform and ecosystem, VPN and networking technologies is desired. In addition to development, this position will be helping shape the strategy for testing and deployment of our mobile apps across different markets. The successful candidate will be required to interact with other teams and work with product managers and business owners

Responsibilities

• ⦁Design and develop code for Nielsen’s mobile digital and audio measurement applications
• ⦁Help drive alignment between different teams and different mobile apps
• ⦁Implement best practices across a team of developers and testers 
• ⦁Deliver efficient, quality software, excellent mobile performance and experience for our mobile app users
• ⦁Stay on top of technology change, able to assess impact, able to offer solutions and innovate in the mobile measurement space
• ⦁Deploying to Google Play Store / Apple app store and monitoring the store stats for application health.
• ⦁Production support for the existing app in the store

Key Skills

• Should be an cross platform developer with minimum 3 years’ experience in designing and implementing solutions for Android and iOS devices
• 
  
• ⦁Proven record of mobile app development
• ⦁Excellent Java/Kotlin knowledge
• ⦁Excellent Swift / Obj-C knowledge
• ⦁Good knowledge of scripting languages
• ⦁Very good knowledge and exposure to networking APIs, specifically HTTP/S
• ⦁Very good knowledge on memory management for embedded applications
• ⦁Working knowledge of Bluetooth and/or other IoT apps
• ⦁Working knowledge and understanding of VPN support is a plus
• ⦁Experience working with various Extensions & Kits offered by the iOS platform
• ⦁Strong knowledge on Android Background & Foreground services is a MUST
• ⦁Experience with ReactNative or ReactJS is a plus
• ⦁Proven record on mobile performance optimization
• ⦁Understanding of IPv4/IPv6, UDP/TCP packets and sockets is a plus
• ⦁Understanding of Native and Web communications using JavaScript
• ⦁Experience working with Audio/Video recording in the background
• ⦁Experience working with JUnit 5 and Kotest, XCUnit
• ⦁Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins/GITLab)
• ⦁Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and ceremonies
• ⦁Good knowledge of JSON formats and parsers
• ⦁Experience integrating 3rd party SDKs (e.g. Firebase)
• ⦁Should be able to work across multiple platforms and domains
• ⦁Should have the ability to work independently and be a self-starter. Direction and support will be provided by the manager or the technical lead, but the candidate is expected to be a proactive leader and put forth his/her own ideas
