The Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) department in the Northrop Grumman Naval & Oceanic business unit at Annapolis, Maryland, is seeking Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) engineers to support complex, dynamic maritime programs of strategic importance to the company and our nation, and help us shape future opportunities in the undersea domain. This position requires close collaboration with system architects and software engineers to improve our current MS&A capabilities and explore customer-based scenarios. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of state-of-the-art undersea systems, which will provide exposure to a wide range of advanced systems and technologies including autonomous underwater vehicles, acoustic and non-acoustic sensors, sensor processing, navigation, communication technologies, and advanced algorithms.
In this position you will perform functions such as the following:
Though not required, experience with underwater/Navy systems such as sonar systems, sensors, torpedoes, towed vehicles, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), acoustic communications, etc. is highly desired.

This is a dual-band requisition; the ideal candidate can be hired as either a Band 2 or a Band 3 engineer. The basic/preferred qualifications are described below.

Salary Range: $78,600.00 - $118,000.00Salary Range 2: $96,900.00 - $145,300.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to basepay. In this position you will perform functions such as the following:
- Development of system modeling, simulation, analysis, and trade study activities to include requirements analysis, system, and System of System (SoS) trade studies, system capability analysis, system survivability analysis, and mission performance/effectiveness analysis.
- Create new and adapt existing models, methods, and analysis capabilities to conduct studies to support the design, development, and assessment of advanced system design concepts and technologies.
- Create and update blue/red tactics and CONOPS modeling, simulation, and analysis support to accomplish long-term objectives related to program development, execution, and related research and development projects.
- Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are consistent with mission requirements; develop mission relevant scenarios; assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.
- Work within cross-functional teams to develop new and/or integrate existing system simulation frameworks to support analysis of mission simulations. This will involve contributing to a shared codebase using version control to model platform capabilities and behaviors using Agile software development practices.
- Architect, model, simulate, and analyze systems through the delivery phase to verify system performance against functional/capability requirements.
- Prepare and brief technical packages to company leadership and government customers.
- Support project and program processes, reviews and technical planning activities.
- Identify, develop and implement new tools, tool features, and processes to advance our undersea and multi-domain MS&A capabilities.
- Collaborate with other Northrop Grumman MS&A organizations to share ideas, capabilities and grow our world-class MS&A capabilities.

- Experience in modeling, simulation, and/or analysis of systems.
- Experience with MATLAB, C/C++, Java and/or Python.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willing to learn additional discipline areas.
- Must have and be able to maintain at minimum a DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a STEM field, including Operations Research Analysis
- Experience/expertise in AFSIM or other scenario modeling framework
- Experience in Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Anti-Surface Warfare (ASUW), Mine-Warfare (MIW), Cyber Warfare, and/or other Naval Warfare Domains.
- Experience in theater level, engagement level and system level MS&A in the maritime domain and/or other modeling domains.
- Experience with system and System of System (SoS) MS&A and development.
- Knowledge of US Naval tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
- Experience in CONOPS and tactics development and analysis, especially red/blue CONOPS and tactics.
- Experience with other structured/scripting programming languages (such as C++, Java) and debugging.
- Experience with configuration management / version control using tools such as Git, SVN.
- Experience working within Agile framework (e.g. Scrum, Kanban), including tools such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
- Experience in signal processing, communications and/or target detection/tracking.
- Experience with autonomous systems and/or machine learning and artificial intelligence (ML/AI).
- Experience in undersea Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), acoustic systems, imaging sonar techniques and technologies.
- Experience preparing work products associated with the system engineering lifecycle milestones (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
- Industry/company recognition and awards, attendance and participation in industry/engineering conferences and symposiums, and/or patents/disclosures/publications.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities to include mentorship and working/interfacing with customers.
- Active DoD Top Secret with SSBI/SCI, poly preferred.
