Team or Function Overview

The right candidate will be invited to join the Savannah Plant team and continue a legacy of over 50 years of successful operations in this location. We operate two production lines that produce rolled roofing products for both commercial and residential applications.

Summary

The Savannah Modified Bitumen (Modbit) plant Modbit Winder is responsible for operating the Winder in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the customer receives the highest quality products. This position will have the opportunity to bid into other operations jobs within the Savannah Plant as they come available.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for working safely at all times and following all Plant Safety Procedures.

• Responsible for the proper setup of the winder of roll products. Operates winder within process specifications

• Promptly notifies the leadman, Dry End operator and/or supervisor of any safety, mechanical or operational issues regarding the operation of the winder. Responsible for using the horn and/or radio to request help and relay information

• Responsible for visually inspecting the pull rolls for any type of build up or defects throughout the operator's shift. Cleans pull roll with installed scrapper to reduce risk of hand injuries.

• Responsible for checking the roll weight and relaying the weight to dry end operator every 15 minutes that the machine is running.

• Responsible for assisting in impregnator cleaning and machine thread up as needed during product changes, sheet breaks, start ups and down times

• All quality testing assigned to be performed per the approved test method and at the prescribed frequencies.

• Responsible for checking the roll weight and relaying the weight to dryend operator every 15 minutes that the machine is running.

• Responsible for the housekeeping in and around the winder area during production times and any areas necessary during machine down times.

• Responsible for communicating any mechanical or quality issues with the leadman or supervisor covering the shift.

• Responsible for assisting in impregnator cleaning and machine thread up as needed during product changes, sheet breaks, start ups and down times.

• Assist the roll wrapper and the lift driver with any issues when possible.

• Responsible for cleaning the winder fife eye as needed. Requests help if needed.

• Responsible for applying splice warning stickers to rolls that contain a splice

• Responsible for the proper setup of the winder of roll products. Operates winder within process specifications.

• Trained on all applicable JSAs.

• Responsible fo the daily operation of the shock roll assembly and reporting any mechanical/electrical problems to supervisor or leadman.

• Responsible for cleaning of the paint line section during down time as requested by supervisor/leadman.

• Makes all required splices in the S-wrap section during machine down time.

• Responsible for inspecting the shock roll system and rocker arm prior to any machine start up.

Physical Demands

• Ability to frequently move about to accomplish tasks or more from one work area to another

• Ability to position self to bend, pull, and reach overhead and/or below shoulder level to perform machine functions, lifting, carrying and moving of products/materials frequently.

• Ability to move up to 50 lbs frequently

• Ability to work/operate machinery in a constant state of alertness frequently

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 1 or more years of work experience as a winder operator in a manufacturing environment.

• Ability to work rotating shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays
