Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services and Systems is currently seeking a Modular Solutions Program Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Raleigh, NC

Position Overview:

This leader of people position reports into the Director of Strategic Programs and the primary function is to drive the growth of the modular solutions portfolio. This portfolio currently includes modular integrated transportable substations (MITS), modular data centers, modular power assemblies (distribution centric and/or UPS system centric), pad mounted NOVA reclosers, and large (> $3m) modular turnkey projects. The portfolio has a 2022 sales objective of $8.1m along with a $8.6m orders entered target. The product line has demonstrated strong YOY growth and is one of the strategic growth programs for the Electrical Engineering Services & Systems Division.

In this function you will:

  • Manage a sub-team of 4-6 direct reports including product manager, modular application engineer(s), CAD designer(s), and product engineer(s) to achieve profit plan goals for orders entered (OE), sales billed (SB), and margin for the portfolio.
  • Work in a highly matrixed organization with support resources from other teams including proposals, engineering, project management.
  • Coordinate with operations managers for pricing and margin levels to support their P&L and follow-through with project management and design resources to successfully execute projects
  • Maintain supplier relationship agreements with 3rd party integrators including QA/QC plans and payment terms
  • Help drive new product development and create / promote product line value propositions and associated literature required to meet growth objectives.
  • Contribute to future product line direction through market analysis
  • Develop and foster strategic partnerships with related Eaton product lines (power quality, power distribution products, Cooper Power Systems) as well as with key suppliers (integrators, HVAC, etc)
  • For innovation / new product development, own, lead, and execute the VOC (voice of customer) process & collection into the product line. Leverage EBS Tools such as Eaton Value Cycle and PROLaunch to systematically develop and drive growth strategies. Transform inputs into new product development ideas and projects for input to the technology roadmap.
  • Develop, update, and implement a marketing plan. Create/update required product line sales tools, collateral, and communications. Lead product line's participation in division wide marketing programs including coordination with global modular teams.
  • Work closely with the Strategic Programs director in strategic planning and the development of product line strategic plan.
  • Perform competitive analysis and development product competitive comparisons as needed. Maintain a pulse on the competition (their product offering, footprint, and go-to-market strategy).
  • Ensure the Modular Solutions Pipeline, Negotiations Log, and C360 Opportunity Tracking system are aligned and up-to-date working closely with the sales organization. Leverage sales channels to follow-up on open, active opportunities.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or business from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product marketing, applications engineering, or sales of a technical product
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to gain authorized access to highly secure Government facilities

Preferred qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years leadership / management of people experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
  • MBA from an accredited institution
  • Experience with UPS applications, medium voltage distribution, and low voltage distribution equipment
  • Experience with electric utility and power quality customers & channels.

Position Criteria:

  • Must possess good business acumen, and the ability to develop and execute tactical and strategic plans to support the product line's goals.
  • Strong teamwork skills are necessary, with the ability to leverage resources effectively.
  • Must be able to travel as necessary to effectively interface with customers and other required contacts, to perform essential functions above.
  • Must be able to work independently and innovatively to meet the overall goals of the product line.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical value of the portfolio in discussions with customer technical leaders
  • Ability to analyze product markets relative to competitor prices, market trends, and product features, and to formulate effective marketing strategies and plans accordingly.
  • Ability to effectively price products to attain desired sales volume and market penetration in light of current market trends, product features, and existing competitive situations.
