Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit & appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis Operations Division, Revetment Branch, Mat Loading Unit, Memphis, TN.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Must possess and maintain a Class A CDL license. May require a Hazardous Materials Endorsement to CDL. (MUST ATTACH CDL)
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Safely operating one or more types of motor vehicles, and the ability to perform small maintenance tasks on a motor vehicle. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate physical effort is exerted in operating large truck and assisting with repairs and servicing equipment. Also required to do moderate lifting and pushing.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed outside in extreme weather conditions. Driver is inside cab but still subject to dust, fumes, wind, rain, heat and cold, noise, flying particles and moving machinery.

- This position is covered by the DOT rules and USACE ER 690-1-1218. May be subject to random alcohol and drug testing on an unannounced basis. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 7412, "Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Safety-Sensitive Under The Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration Rules on Drug and Alcohol Testing" or a Memorandum of Understanding.
