- MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT: Due to the nature of this position, the minimum military grade of this position is Senior Airman (SrA/E4) and the maximum military grade is Technical Sergeant (TSgt/E6).

- OPEN TILL FILLED: This is an open till filled announcement with closing dates being every 30 days from the opening date. Every 30 days, a certificate of eligibles will be issued to the selecting supervisor until the position is filled.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.
WG-08 - At least 12 months of experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, fuel trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds) and up to 14,400 kilograms (less than 32,000 pounds). Experience operating vehicles and tractors, some of which may be equipped with special-purpose powered equipment. Experience operating platform, van, stake and dump trucks, refueling vehicles passenger buses or ambulance buses.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Resume must have complete dates and hours worked per week for each occurrence of both civilian and military employment (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only will result in disqualification. The duties listed must fully substantiate -in your own words- that you meet the minimum requirements and specialized experience listed above, in detail; otherwise, you will not be considered qualified for this position.
Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Your experience will be evaluated on the basis of duties performed. Your record of experience and/or training must show possession of the following knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position:
-- In-depth knowledge of a wide variety of preservation processing and standard packing methods and techniques, detailed knowledge of specialized techniques for preservation and/or custom packing
-- Thorough knowledge of procedures and documentation requirements to prepare and verify shipping documents for correct safety and destination coding, classifications, and hazardous material handling criteria
-- Knowledge of warehousing plans and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques
-- Skill in determining weight support points for large or irregular material and in fabricating the necessary bracing and protective forms.
-- Skill in the preparation of all documentation for hazardous materials to be packed, stored, and shipped including the visual assessment of their physical condition and their quantity, size and specialized handling, labeling or storage requirements.
-- Knowledge of operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds such as aircraft refueling tractor trailers, truck tractors with semi or full trailers, heavy load in-line trucks, or interstate motor coaches.
-- Ability to operate electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork-lift (lifting loads weighting 10,000 lbs or more that are higher then 168"), and other material handling equipment.
-- Ability to operate one or more types of trucks such as pickup, panel, and flatbed trucks, which typically have a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or less, on local and public roads at highway speeds.
-- Exercises a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of deployment and distribution management policies, principles and practices as well as an in-depth knowledge of commercial traffic management activities.
-- Practical knowledge of industry practices and procedures and established regulations, requirements, and techniques related to the transportation program.
-- Broad knowledge of organizational practices and activities and skill in applying this knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments, and the ability to identify, analyze and resolve transportation issues or problems.
-- Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read maps to determine the shortest and safest route.
-- Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. related to motor vehicle operation, power take-off unit operation, and preventive maintenance; and meet cargo pickup and delivery schedules/deadlines.
-- Skill and knowledge in turning the vehicles, in evaluating the condition and load limits of bridges, in scheduling weigh points, and in assessing traffic conditions and hazards locally and over long-distance routes in unfamiliar geographic areas.
-- Knowledge and skill to: determine the correct turning radius for these flection-type vehicles; back the trailer into loading docks, between other trailers, and in narrow, congested locations around warehouses and parking areas; and apply the dual braking system for the combination vehicles especially on steep winding grades, without causing the trailers to jackknife.
-- Skill to maneuver oversize vehicles safely in narrow and confined locations which are often congested with other vehicles. Skill and knowledge in driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations. Skill to remain attentive and maintain a defensive attitude while making interstate drives at highway speeds for extended periods, often at night.
Additional information
- If you are a current Federal employee or former Federal employee, you must submit a copy of your latest SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action" and/or a copy of the SF-50. You may submit your most recent performance appraisal.
- The National Guard is exempt from the Veterans Preference Act. Submission of a copy of your DD-214 is not required unless you are hired for technician position.
- If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/59 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency.
