eBay is looking for a Senior Android Engineer who is passionate about creating apps consumers love. We work in small, focused, collaborative project teams following an agile methodology. Cross functional teams including product management, product development, and UXD work on a daily basis to create a successful product that delights our customers. The Search development team builds innovative features into the global eBay app for the Search experience. You will work closely with the business and technology teams in search to develop experiences our customers will love.

As a Senior Android engineer on the search development team, you should have an expert's depth and breadth of experience in Android, Java, Kotlin and Android Developer Studio as well as familiarity with the integration of network services. You should be proficient in teaching and leading by example and mentoring both junior and senior engineers.

Job Functions:

  • Designing elegant technical solutions to customer problems
  • TDD, clean code, software craftsmanship
  • Testing at all levels (unit, integration, and UI)
  • Refactoring
  • Continuous delivery and integration
  • Code reviews
  • Standard scrum ceremonies (e.g. stand-ups, sprint planning, demos and retrospectives)
  • Training / coaching

Job Requirements:

  • Have an expert's depth and breadth of experience in Android, Java, Kotlin and Android Developer Studio as well as familiarity with the integration of network services.
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Promote a culture of "internal open source" where teams can contribute to each other's code bases regardless of organizational boundaries
  • Enjoy being part of a team of motivated, collaborative, high-achievers
  • Communicate effectively within your team and across teams.
  • Identify project risks, quantify risk/benefit relationships and provide alternative solutions as well as risk mitigation.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range below.

$135,200- $205,700

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
