N256 provides applied systems engineering/mission engineering for 2 Combatant Commands (CCMDs): NORAD/USNORTHCOM & USSPACECOM. N256 provides technical expertise for Homeland Defense, Arctic Experimentation/Communications, Space C2 and Space as a Warfighting Domain, Contested Logistics, C2 structures, and systems engineering to bridge the command, and the rest of the DoD Enterprise, and in support of the Joint Force and Service Components.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Direct Supervisor(DS) and provide overall leadership for group members
  • Executes vision & plans for the Group/Dept to enable and support execution of JS/CCMD Division strategy
  • Enable workforce and work program shaping through identification of key technical, domain and industry trends as well as insight into current work program issues and opportunities
  • Help shape group member performance goals & conduct performance management conversations with staff
  • Facilitate professional & career development of group staff thru positive leadership, coaching, development, training, and mentoring
  • Work with Project Leaders across the department to negotiate the application of talent, ensuring all staff members are appropriately assigned to projects (right staffing), and are fully staffed to plan
  • Acts to fulfill department recruiting goals and activities to acquire the right talent
  • Help ensure the technical quality for the work accomplished
  • Diversify staff project support outside of the immediate work program
  • Ensures effective communication and dissemination of relevant information about emerging initiatives, actions, and decisions from both a MITRE and customer perspective to staff
  • Effectively recognize and reward individual and team achievements
  • Provide strong thought/technical leadership and serve as one of the domain experts in the group while actively contributing to the technical work program
  • Work w/ dept & division leadership to evolve the mission, vision, values, & culture of the group & dept
  • Work with staff to ensure alignment as the group/department/division and work program evolves.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years related work experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership ability and proven experience in leading and managing teams
  • Active Secret Clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Prior Group or Project Leader experience
  • JS/CCMD domain familiarity
  • Experience leading diverse teams
  • Top Secret Clearance level

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$151,000 - $188,500 - $226,000 Annual
