The National Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing strategic account relationships, developing and implementing profitable sales programs and promotional strategies, and managing the field sales organization. This position executes expansion plans and other strategic initiatives by developing customer relationships, negotiating annual programs, and managing internal communications to ensure success of sales. To be successful, the National Sales Manager will need to effectively manage regional plans and resources to meet organizational goals.Â
This position is a full-time salaried, exempt position and reports to the Sales Director. The compensation for this position ranges from $90,000 - $110,000 per year. This position is hybrid remote with weekly work in our office in Portland, OR and will travel up to 50% of the time to in support of sales accounts, events, and tradeshows. Weekend work and travel is occasionally required.Â
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Key Account and National Sales Program Management Â
- Create and implement programs for national sales and work with Sales Director to set sales team goals and targets Â
- Manage key account relationships, business plans, and agreements; recommend sales and marketing programs, and set short- and long-term sales strategies
- Collaborate with Sales Director to assign and manage territories, monitor targets, and meet or exceed revenue and target metric objectives
- Serve as primary point of contact for key accounts within territories
- Plan and execute key account meetings and events at the territory level
- Maintain regular sales contacts and periodic market visits with strategic customer and distribution business partners
- Consult with potential customers to understand their needs and recommend appropriate products that will meet those needs
- Execute sales of all products and new items, promotions and other sales initiatives to appropriate distribution business partner and/or strategic customers
- Respond to customer needs and resolve potential issues to ensure efficient sales operations; including working with relevant internal teams to address challenges
- Contribute to monthly/quarterly/annual category analysis, including share development, retail space development, and brand/promotional activities
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics and provide strategic recommendations for continuous improvement Â
- Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunitiesÂ
Oversee Field Sales Organization
- Collaborate with Executive Team and Sales Director to recruit, select, onboard, and manage an appropriate field sales team that meets or exceeds goals
- Provide onboarding, training, and ongoing support to enable effective sales agencies Â
Support Department Strategy
- Contribute to planning and implement strategic objectives that fulfill the mission and the goals of the department in collaboration with leadership team
- Evaluate, improve, and report the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance profitability and qualitative results
- Establish, maintain, and present reports to key stakeholders
- Engage in effective feedback systems to monitor and communicate operational and strategic alignment with interdepartmental objectives
- Work with Sales Director to effectively manage department budget and profitability Â

MUST HAVE
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Experience
- 7 years of experience in sales with progressive responsibility for sales programsÂ
- 3 years of experience in sales management Â
Skills
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareÂ
- Proficient knowledge of compliance related laws and regulationsÂ
- Proficient understanding of project management fundamentalsÂ
- Advanced expertise in excel and analytical analysis and reportingÂ
- Expert sales, customer service, and negotiation skillsÂ
- Expert understanding of the financial and business acumen to drive profitabilityÂ
