Job Summary

This position is responsible for physical natural gas supply for CITGO's refineries. The position will work closely with operations to forecast demand, purchase gas, and manage transportation. The role is responsible for analysis of fundamental natural gas market intelligence such as weather, production, storage, and power generation and will work closely with the financial trading desk on hedging and risk management activities. The ideal candidate will leverage their knowledge of natural gas markets and logistics to develop new supply opportunities and implement trading strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree:

  • College Degree (Bachelors Level).

The minimum number of years of job related experience required by this job is:

  • 5 years.

  • Intimate knowledge of natural gas markets and logistics.
  • Experience trading natural gas.
  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills are required.

Job Duties

1. Procure physical natural gas supply for CITGO's refineries.

  • Direct responsibility for all commercial activity associated with natural gas supply.
  • Short-, intermediate-, and long-term price forecasting in support of cash forecasting, refinery optimization, profitability estimates, etcetera.
  • Coordinate scheduling activites for the physical delivery of natural gas.
  • Leadership of spot and term contract negotiations and managing executed contracts.
  • Monitoring of customer accounts receiveable/payment status.
  • Trade and optimize around transportation, storage, and current contracts.

2. Management of key relationships: develop, grow and nurture industry business relationships with customers, co-producers, and internal constituencies. Originate new supply and infrastructure opportunities.

3. Perform business analysis and conduct market intelligence in order to understand industry trends and, by extension, identify threats and opportunities. Efforts include the following:

  • Long-term analysis in support of MTP/financing activities, as well as to assess investment opportunities, growth strategies, and strategic market positioning via term contracts.
  • Intermediate-term analysis in support of budgeting efforts, turnaround planning, etcetera.
  • Short-term market analysis in support of value creation via spot commercial activity and refinery optimization.
  • Work closely with financial trading desk on hedging and risk management activites.

4. Report to CITGO constituents and leadership in weekly and monthly forums (e.g., MSOM, MAM, STO, refinery coordination calls) regarding both realized results and forthcoming efforts and activities which may be of commercial, operational and/or financial consequence.

5. Lead the implementation of natural gas trading systems and integration with ETRM.
