Vast is looking for an NDE Level II Inspector (PAUT, UT), reporting to the Manager of Quality, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach, CA location. The NDT Operations organization at Vast is an inclusive, interdisciplinary team that is committed to providing high quality inspections of flight components and production assemblies. The breadth of exposure as an NDT Level II Inspector is immense, as the organization is responsible for a large diversity of inspection types across our space programs. You have the ability to engage with the process to provide continuous improvement to execute on the mission to contribute to a future where billions of people are living and thriving in space.
Responsibilities:Â
- Perform volumetric NDT inspections with advanced phased array ultrasonics equipment.
- Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to Manufacturing and Engineering teams.
- Interpret engineer drawing callouts, effectively communicating features and findings as required.
- Support the development of NDT Inspection techniques for complex geometries.
- Assist in cross-functional learning objectives supporting continuous growth of the NDT team.
- Support R&D into full matrix capture PAUT for operational improvement and optimization
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a level II NDT Inspector/Technician.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineer drawings and GD&T callouts.
- NDT level II certification in line with ASNT-TC-1A/NAS-410 or DoD guidance in (UT & PAUT).
- Operational experience of utilizing UT & PAUT systems for the inspection of weldments.
- Full documentation of "On Job Training" hours in UT & PAUT
- Documentation on training (that included an exam) of UT level II and PAUT.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of basic Standards such as; AS, AMS, AWS, NAS410, ASME, ASTM
- Knowledge of Olympus Tomoview UT software, and experience using portable digital UT equipment such as Olympus EPOCH 650, Omniscan X3 or equivalent.
- Knowledge and experience in automating and running a PAUT system
- Experience in establishing and writing NDT techniques
- Experience working with engineering teams in both R&D and manufacturing environments
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
Pay Range:
- Â NDELevel II Inspector: $25.64 - $38.58

The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
