The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting a company's network infrastructure. The role designs, installs, and documents LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems, and network segments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides technical oversight of a multi-site enterprise level WAN, including planning, implementation/expansion, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Performs network design and implementation.
  • Assists with management of security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems to comply with the company security policy.
  • Designs and implements short and long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
  • Analyzes and monitors network security and implement patches and fixes to address potential security holes.
  • Configures and conducts Network performance monitoring to analyze and isolate issues.
  • Plans and recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.
  • Interacts with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure telephony and data network products and services.
  • Trains team members and end users on new hardware or software.
  • Designs and implements disaster recovery plan for telephony and data network systems, configurations, and software.
  • Provides on-call technical support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in the field of computer science or information systems; or four (4) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with the design, implementation, and administration of networking systems.
  • Experience with the design, implementation, and administration of wireless systems.
  • Experience with design, implementation, and administration of BGP routing
  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
  • Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

  • Certifications in Cisco Systems (CCNA, CCNP) and Network+ within 6 months of obtaining position.
  • Ability to obtain and keep current certifications in vendor products such as Cisco.

  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
