GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting a company's network infrastructure. Designs, installs, and documents LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems, and network segments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical oversight of a multi-site enterprise level WAN, including planning, implementation/expansion, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform network design and implementation
  • Assist with management of security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems to comply with the company security policy.
  • Design and implement short and long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
  • Analyze and monitor network security and implement patches and fixes to address potential security holes.
  • Configure and conduct Network performance monitoring to analyze and isolate issues.
  • Plan and recommend upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.
  • Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure telephony and data network products and services.
  • Train team members and end users on new hardware or software.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery plan for telephony and data network systems, configurations, and software.
  • Provide on-call technical support.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in the field of computer science or information systems; or Four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with the design, implementation, and administration of networking systems.
  • Experience with the design, implementation, and administration of wireless systems.
  • Experience with design, implementation, and administration of BGP routing
  • Certifications in Cisco Systems (CCNA, CCNP) and Network+ within 6 months of obtaining position.
  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
  • Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Initiative and innovation in improving work processes.
  • Professionalism, follow-through and the adaptability to change, delays and unexpected events.
  • Familiar with using APIs for scripting and automation.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

This position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. It also requires the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. This position will also require an individual with the ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from groups of people by translating technical information to the customer's level of understanding. This position also requires the individual to respond to common inquiries and complaints from customers at all levels of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

This position requires the basic skills of math, such as the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

This position requires a person with a very high ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions when dealing with technical issues. It also requires a person to be able to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

This position requires someone with ability to obtain and keep current certifications in vendor products such as Cisco.
