Summary

The Network Administrator's role is to design, build, and support voice and data network systems across the enterprise. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing local and wide area network connections, associated software, hardware, and communication links. This person will also troubleshoot enterprise voice and data network performance issues, as well as analyze network traffic and provide capacity-planning solutions. In addition, the Network Administrator will proactively assess potential items of risk and opportunities of vulnerability in the network.

The right candidate will

  • Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components
  • Monitor and analyze network performance across the organization's local and wide area networks.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues for end users and remote sites.
  • Work closely with communications vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues and make modifications or upgrades to the LAN/WAN infrastructure
  • Install, configure, and ensure proper operation of all network equipment.
  • Inspect, maintain, and where necessary replace network cabling, voice/data jacks, and other network-related equipment
  • Ensures all network devices have current updates and patches
  • Install, configure, and ensure proper operation of proxy server and firewalls.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and service
  • Create and maintain documentation relevant to areas of responsibility
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned

What you'll need

  • Technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSPF, and so on.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware
  • Working technical knowledge of SBC design and configuration
  • Experience working in a switched and routed environment
  • Experience with VoIP and SIP service implementation and support
  • Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience
  • Skilled at installing/configuring, switches, routers, SBCs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required
