Summary
The Apprentice - Networking and Telecom will be responsible for supporting the Chicago Telecommunications Modernization project. The work will include networking and telecom tasks associated with buildout of seven towers in the Chicagoland area to stand up a private communications network.
Responsibilities
• Configure and install networking and telecom equipment needed for the project
• Documentation the telecom and network environments (ensure that all documentation is accurate and up to date)
• Document issue resolution using the helpdesk ticketing system
• Install and configure hardware and software
• Maintain excellent communication with all end users and other members of the technology department
• Assist other team members in executing various project tasks
• Work with hardware break/fix vendor as needed
• Execute other assigned tasks as delegated by the Customer, Project Manager and Team Lead
Requirements
• 4-year college degree or relatable professional experience.
• Networking experience required
• Telecom experience a plus
• Ability to work in the field
• Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
• Familiarity with Microsoft based applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Project)
• Possess analytical, problem solving, and leadership skills
• A team player with the willingness to assist coworkers on other projects as required
• Understanding of the business analysis and project management methods
