The Role

The Network Engineer is an integral part of the growing technology and security organizations at TaxBit. The role will build, support, and maintain the corporate network of TaxBit offices. This position will focus on the secure and successful deployment of on-premise network equipment and other corporate-owned devices.

The role will support TaxBit team members, both on-site and remotely, is responsible for maintenance and performance of our corporate network across multiple sites, and serve as the lead of our corporate engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and install corporate network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
• Performing operational support, implementation, and maintenance of the network infrastructure
• Perform network maintenance and upgrades including updates, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
• Troubleshooting and resolving network performance, connectivity, and configuration issues
• Leads the management and delivery of projects/systems/issues of varying complexity regarding network planning, configuration, and optimization
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability, reliability, and capacity
• Monitor network resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Provide on-call support on a rotating basis
• Serve as lead and mentor to Corp Engineering team members

Required Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent—Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• 4+ years’ experience with Data Networks, Firewalls, VPNs, and Load Balancers
• Professional Network Certifications required - CCNA or equivalent
• Experience with designing and implementing large, enterprise-wide networks, network security, network standards, TCP/IP protocols and associated monitoring and engineering tools
• Demonstrated expertise in network fundamentals (IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, firewalls, Wi-Fi, VLANs, NAT/PAT)
• Thorough understanding of networking protocols (i.e., IPSEC, OSPF, 802.11, SSL/TLS, SSH, Ciphers)
• Strong troubleshooting skills using packet analysis and network monitoring (Wireshark, nmon, etc.)
• Solid understanding of reliability, scalability, and availability of network services
• Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles
• Solid verbal and written communication skills, both on technical terms and non-technical
• Ability to interface effectively with management, which include business operations and technical teams

• Experience managing a small team
• Experience conducting internal network pen testing engagements
