Job Duties:

• Planning, designing, implementing, maintaining, evaluating, documenting and repairing networks;
• Designing LAN/WAN Network map of remote sites for installation and implementation of network devices;
• Designing, developing and managing cyber security solutions;
• Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting routers and switches;
• Configuring Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) polling on all remote site routers to monitor bandwidth utilization and Internet Service Provider (ISP) network drops;
• Configuring internet protocol service level agreement (IPSLA) test on all remote sites for bandwidth and traffic monitoring;
• Configuring and installing signal probes at Retail, Regional and on Campus to monitor wireless clients;
• Configuring firewalls including performing risk analysis, following security policy and creating rules and modifications;
• Configuring and implementing Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), per VLAN Spanning Tree (PVST), Rapid STP (RSTP) and Rapid per VLAN Spanning Tree (PVST+) on switches;
• Implementing Virtual Device Contexts (VDC) and Virtual Device Contexts (VPC) switch features;
• Providing Layer-3 redundancy by implementing HSRP (Hot Standby Router Protocol) and (Gateway Load Balancing Protocol) GLBP for High availability;
• Executing static routing, default routing and dynamic routing protocols;
• Planning for upgrade of IOS on devices and how it will impact BCBS' network and performing the upgrade;
• Monitoring network traffic using LiveAction and SolarWinds tools;
• Managing and upgrading Palo Alto IPS, Cisco ASA and Juniper firewall;
• Upgrading fast Ethernet, Layer 3-switched/Routed LAN infrastructure from Cisco 2921 to Cisco 4331 ISR routers;
• Refreshing and upgrading network devices of retail and regional sites;
• Troubleshooting VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network - a subnet), VLAN Trunking, and HSRP failovers;
• Resolving network escalations;
• Utilizing Wireshark, Opnet, Observer, Sniffer to perform complex network protocol analysis;
• Implementing, configuring and managing of Network Management tools including HPNA and Live Action;
• Providing consultation and execution of network design and administration;
• Reviewing and assessing user needs and trends;
• Conducting research and recommending network technology solutions;
• Providing consultation throughout the company regarding networks;
• Monitoring and performing maintenance of networks;
• Preparing reports and analyzing trends, issues and metrics related to network performance and recommending courses of action;
• Gathering and analyzing business requirements to design technology solutions that meet business needs which may include changing or modifying existing networks or researching vendor solutions;
• Implementing and deploying of technology design including troubleshooting and resolving issues;
• Resolving complex network problems;
• Participating in the strategy and development of network architecture;
• Preparing documentation for audits;
• Participating in monthly releases and disaster recovery exercises;
• Developing and maintaining procedures; and
• Interfacing with other IT teams and business units to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network infrastructure.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in any Computer or Engineering field and 4 or more years of work experience in the job offered, or in a network engineer or related role or a Master's Degree in any Computer or Engineering field and 2 or more years of work experience in the job offered, or in a network engineer or related role
• Experience with enterprise class network of more than 10,000 nodes
• Experience with Network protocols at layers 2 through 4 of the OSI model that includes Ethernet, IP, ICMP, TCP, and UDP
• Experience with architecting, implementing and maintaining operational solutions for monitoring, alerting and tracking network issues
• Experience with SNMP, Netflow, and CISCO LiveAction
• Experience with Wireshark, Observer, and Sniffer
• Experience designing, installing and supporting of packet brokers
• Experience with GIGAMON and GIGAVUE
• Experience performing Network Problem Analysis utilizing protocol and packet decoding
• Experience with HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS and CIFS/SMB
