Network Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Network Engineer will be the SME working on a large multi-year refresh project. The engineer will ensure compliance with security standards, design principles, and best practices. The ideal candidate should possess a strong engineering mindset, complemented by exceptional collaboration and written and verbal communication skills. They should have a proven ability to engage effectively with clients at all levels and demonstrate adaptability in diverse environments. This position will interface directly with internal stakeholders, external suppliers/providers, and business management.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• The primary responsibility is to provide network planning and configuration services as part of a large, multi-year network refresh. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Strong change management experience with migrations from Checkpoint to Fortinet firewalls
• Create CRQ (Change requests) with full documentation, including change impact, configurations, and rollback plans, and present the change on CAB calls.
• Strong experience with the following vendors: Cisco Catalyst 9K switches, Catalyst Centre, Arista Data Centre switches, Arista Cloud Vision, Aruba Wifi, Netscout, Gigamon, Lantronics, HP Network Authority (HP NA)
• Knowledge of Cisco SD Access deployments and configurations
• Routing protocols OSPF, BGP, ISIS, EIGRP, Multicast, VX Lan
• Experience with Hardware refresh, OS upgrades, patch mgmt, and strong routing and switching skills.
• Python scripting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Analytical skills with the ability to address issues proactively and find practical solutions.
• Experience working in collaborative environments and supporting cross-functional team
• This role will require weekend work during maintenance or cutover periods
• Technical certifications such as Cisco CCNP or equivalent
