LOCATION:     Greenwich, CT or New York, NY (Hybrid- 3 days in office, 2 days work from home)

JOB FUNCTION

We are seeking a candidate to be a member of the Technology Infrastructure Team, which has approximately 19 professionals. The technology team is responsible for all design, implementation, and support of infrastructure at the firm 24x7x365. This position is based out of the Greenwich, CT office.

This is an opportunity to participate on a high-performing Technology Team that has an excellent track record of high systems availability and high-quality user support. This role requires after-hours and weekend work as well as on-call responsibilities.

Network Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Deployment, configuration, maintenance, and systematic health monitoring of all network peripherals.
  • Maintaining documentation detailing configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and business continuity procedures for associated devices.
  • Metrics to measure and trend capacity and utility of network.
  • Logging and alerting facilities as defined by corporate information security and technology policy.
  • Researching new technologies to advance the Viking infrastructure.
  • Continuously improving internal technology processes and end-user experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful candidate must have:

  • Minimum of 5 years previous network administration in medium sized company.
  • Strong routing and switching expertise is necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Ability to work independently, juggling multiple priorities.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Knowledge of the financial industry is preferred.

The ideal candidate may also have:

  • Proficiency in all aspects of network management and design for a small to medium-sized firm.
  • Experience with Cisco and Palo Alto equipment is required, including Nexus and Catalyst switches, Cisco routers, and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Fluency in all networking protocols, including OSPF, BGP, and HSRP, and support for all market data DMZ connectivity. Strong experience with QoS, SD-WAN, and WAN optimization.
  • Experience with VXLAN is a strong plus.
  • The candidate will also be responsible for WAN links to other locations using point-to-point circuits, MPLS, or VPNs. Experience with cloud fundamentals and connectivity is preferred.
  • Experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting network segmentation and network access control solutions. This experience will be leveraged in Viking’s ongoing efforts to adopt a zero-trust network architecture.
  • Ability to provide input and help determine direction for these solutions. Other high-profile projects that the candidate will be working on include two large office build-out projects where they will be asked to assist with WAN connectivity, routing, and switching, wireless network deployment and maintenance.

In addition to the core networking functions, this role will also manage a variety of security devices such as SSL/VPN (Pulse Secure, Palo Alto Prisma) devices. Another key element of this role is system health and monitoring. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience monitoring both network, server and video conference devices, experience with NetFlow, NBAR and other similar technologies.

The base salary range for this position in New York City is $175,000 to $275,000. In addition to base salary, Viking employees may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, 100% coverage of medical and dental premiums, and paid lunches. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be individually determined based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, and other qualifications.
