Gas South is looking to hire a highly qualified candidate that will work on our Infrastructure Team to implement network infrastructure and enterprise solutions.

A successful candidate for this role is one who has a solution-oriented attitude with the ability to evaluate a wide variety of technical requirements and signals to achieve specific goals. Delivering effective solutions that are reliable, maintainable, and secure are critical to this role. Identifying and implementing network enhancements that target improving the performance and reliability of systems communication are also essential for the success of this role.

Other stuff we like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or associate degree/two (2) years of college + two (2) years of related work experience or four (4) years of related work experience (plus any additional required experience). Current and relevant industry certifications preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience supporting network infrastructure.
  • Solid technical background with an ability to develop deployment strategies, provide support and suggestions to a non-technical audience using written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge:
    • Microsoft platforms: Azure cloud, Active Directory (AD), Azure AD (AAD), PowerShell, command line, NVAs, VNets, Windows client OS, Windows server OS
    • Hardware: laptops, desktops, peripherals, switches, routers, firewalls, and related technology solutions including asset management/tracking
    • Networking fundamentals: LAN, MAN, WAN, PAN, VLAN, switching, routing, bridging, gateways, wireless, SD-WAN, VPN, IoT, SAN, QoS, MPLS
    • Networking Protocols: Ethernet, ICMP, ARP, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, DHCP, STP, SSH, FTP, SFTP, SIP, LDAP, SNMP, RADIUS, BGP, DNS, OSPF, SMTP, RIP, Telnet
    • Security: Firewalls, 2FA/MFA, NVR, DLP, TLS, SSL, 802.1X
    • Other: VoIP, management of non-Windows OS, remote-control software, and ticket intake systems (Service Now)
  • Desired working knowledge:
    • Understanding of networking in other cloud environments (AWS, GCP, OCI)
    • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks like, Anisble, Bicep, or Terraform.
  • Certifications: ITIL foundation and CCNA or Network+ certification preferred.

More details on what you would be responsible for:

  • Manage the network infrastructure, suggest improvements, implement changes/upgrades, and troubleshoot day to day issues.
  • Provide information and transfer knowledge to the department’s technical support staff on common network issues and operations.
  • Provide guidance to technicians troubleshooting common network issues.
  • Assist in evaluating and managing the partnerships between Gas South and its technology related third-party vendors and contractors.
  • Identify opportunities and recommend optimal solutions for improving the network and security health by assessing system performance, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Participate in the evaluation and lead implementation of new network technology solutions, platforms, and processes that align with business’s needs.
  • Work with technical teams to ensure that the network hardware and software infrastructure is maintained with the latest firmware and configuration requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and execution of business continuity and disaster recovery plans that prioritize system recovery based on business impact related to network services.
  • Assist in implementation and configuration of networking components to support business operations.
  • Develop measurement, monitoring, and reporting methods for network performance.
  • Follow existing support process, develop procedures and documentation to provide consistent and reliable network availability.
  • Build and implement configuration and operating standards for network devices, and security systems.
  • Build, monitor, and report the performance of network components against KPIs and take preemptive measures to minimize interruptions.
  • Assist with the creation of technology related training materials for team members and end users.
  • Assist with procuring, deploying, and maintaining new network hardware and software solutions.
  • Support IT service operations and security management initiatives.
