This position is responsible for maintaining and administering an extensive global network infrastructure. Primary duties will include maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network components when necessary.
Resolving day-to-day operational issues by collaborating with individual users in order to identify potential issues and resolve exiting problems.
Must have a strong understanding of network infrastructure design, implementation, management, lifecycle process and industry best practice standards.
A deep knowledge and understanding of application transport and network infrastructure protocols, services, and related hardware components, including but not limited to, Fortinet firewalls, switches and wireless components, Cisco switching and infrastructure components, WAN/LAN design and management, routing protocols, inter/intra-VLAN transport security and best practice configurations, and will be required to identify functional improvement opportunities within the network infrastructure, as well as documenting and providing recommendations to management.
Major Accountabilities:
- Oversee global computer networks to maximize performance and minimize downtime
- Confer with management and network users regularly to clarify needs
- Design and implement network components, including equipment procurement
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems
- Coordinate network access and use
- Continually research new technologies and educational opportunities
- Architect, implement, and maintain network solutions that provide core Infrastructure including private cloud and integrate with services and systems running in virtual private and public cloud infrastructure
- Communicate with team to identify needs, monitoring performance, and troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with network and systems
- Provide project management on various network activities including upgrades, new implementations, and migrations, with technical direction and user support as needed
- Create, revise, update, and maintain documentation of environment and operational procedures
- Create reports and documentation outlining findings and solutions
- Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups when required
- Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS Degree in Technology related field (focus on network engineering) and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Microsoft certified technician or related certification desirable.
- 3+ years of experience working with network infrastructure and hardware.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, monitoring, and repairing local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
- Professional certifications (Fortinet NSE4+, CCNP, CCDA, or other equivalent)
- Proficiency with infrastructure devices, including switches, routers, wireless access points, controllers, and firewalls
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
- Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
- Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
- Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
- A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable and flexible when necessary.
- Network security experience.
- LAN and WAN experience.
- Strong documentation skills with extensive knowledge creating logical and physical network diagrams
- Good communication skills - both written and verbal
