The successful candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency with networking technologies, such as WAN, LAN, and firewall technologies, in order to design, implement, operate, maintain, and successfully identify and resolve issues within our Data Center network services.

About Our Team
Department 9774, Data Center Operations, is responsible for leading the daily activities of critical IT services. This includes working in collaboration with the SNL Facilities team in many 24x7 data center environments to ensure all critical systems are operational supporting the mission of the IT infrastructure for Sandia National Laboratories. The ESS team serves as the central point for all Enterprise storage services. Our backup team ensures recovery for physical, virtual, and appliance-based systems. Our virtualization team supports enterprise virtualization infrastructure, virtual hosting services, and private cloud automation platform. Lastly, the Core Networking and Software Defined Networking teams ensure application and service availability, connectivity, resiliency, to both internal and external customers. All these services operate on both the unclassified and classified levels.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency with networking technologies, such as WAN, LAN, and firewall technologies, in order to design, implement, operate, maintain, and successfully identify and resolve issues within our Data Center network services.

- Serve in multiple technical networking areas such as Routing/Switching, Firewalls, Encryption, and High-Performance Computing
- Handle customer relationships and expectations by translating customer needs to deliver appropriate technical solutions
Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information and Communication Technology related field plus five (5) years' experience, or a Master's degree in a related field plus one (1) year of experience, or an Associate's degree in a related field plus nine (9) years' experience, a PhD in a related field, or thirteen (13) years of experience.
- Enterprise networking experience in the following:
- Routing/ Switching
- Network troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Data center networking
- Ability to interpret new business requirements and propose suitable architecture solutions
- Ability to obtain and maintain a required DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Experience with packet capture analyzers and performance monitoring
- Ability to translate customer requirements into design criteria
- Experience developing an enterprise system architecture
- Extensive knowledge of BGP and IBGP routing
- Dual-stack (IPV4 and IPv6) network implementation experience
- Deep knowledge of network equipment (Cisco, Arista, Tellabs, Extreme, Juniper, etc.)
- Understanding of cyber security implementation in large secure networks
- Comprehensive knowledge of physical infrastructure needs in enterprise networking
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Familiarity with automation tools and technologies such as Ansible.
- Familiar with SDN Methodologies
- Ability to travel and represent SNL during vendor Executive and Technical Briefing conferences
- Ability to work beyond normal business hours when needed
- Demonstrated ability to mentor internal and external staff as needed
