The Army Strategic Infrastructure Department (N214) is responsible for 50+ staff-years of technical and domain-specific work focused on the Enterprise Network, Systems, Services and Sustainment. Our primary technical competencies include network engineering, cybersecurity, cloud, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. The work requires an understanding and comfort operating at senior-levels of the Army, including routine coordination and collaboration with Army Senior Leaders.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• The engineer will develop strategies, requirements, roadmaps, and concepts of operation for Army network modernization leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies.
• The engineer will be expected to develop a trusted-advisor relationship with the sponsor and be recognized across the Army Signal/Cyber sponsor base as a network technology thought leader.
• The engineer will be expected to collaborate with the acquisition community to ensure requirements are understood leading to the fielding of successful capabilities.
• The engineer will also collaborate with the Army organizations responsible for operating and maintaining the network to develop the concept of operations and ensure the organizations understand roles and responsibilities and skillsets needed for robust operations and support.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
• Prior experience with the design, operations, and maintenance of enterprise class networks
• Knowledge and experience with the TCP/IP stack and network services (e.g., DNS and 802.1x)
• Knowledge and experience with Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), and interior routing protocols
• Knowledge of modern networking technologies such as software-defined networking (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), and cloud networking
• Knowledge and experience with Next Generation Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), site and multi-site Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and client-based VPNs

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance
• Prior operational and technical experience working with Army enterprise and/or tactical networks
• Industry certification from a major corporate network vendor
• Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto platforms
• Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python
• Experience with network modeling and simulation environments
