ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking an NetworkEngineer to join ourteam that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This role will make an impact by meeting the future needs of our FAA customer that includes securing data across networks in theenterprise.

  • Assists in assessing complex problems and investigates, develops, appraises, selects, and presents solutions.
  • Duties include an interdisciplinary approach using engineering principles.
  • Assists in specifications development, implementation, testing and documenting engineering systems and equipment.
  • Initiates concept development and trade-off studies.
  • Directs the design of electronic or mechanical devices down to the subsystem level.
  • Devises appropriate tests to use in evaluating, debugging, and checking of equipment and systems for accurate and dependable conformance to specifications
  • Perform equipment and system-wide analysis, functional allocations, and interfacing of software and/or computer hardware systems of the National Airspace System.
  • Works under direct supervision, guidelines, and objectives.
  • Possesses the skill to be able to understand the concepts of the National Airspace System (NAS) software programs and its state-of-the-art network. Job functions include:
    • Networking and/or hardware and software configuration and testing
    • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of networks with emphasis on Linux experience
    • Working experience with networking infrastructure such as servers, routers, and switches
    • Excellent documentation skills
    • Ability to learn tasks related to FAA Technical Operations/ATC functions as well as the ability to understand the high level architecture of the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS), detailed knowledge of problem solving skills
  • Solid mechanical skills needed for replacing equipment - changing out components; and an advanced understanding of electronic component installation and wiring
  • Experience with software programming, networks (TCP/IP communications protocol, network programming, etc.), and computer hardware are required.
  • Performs other related duties in-line with tasks assignments.


Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Red Hat Linux knowledge is strongly desired.
  • These other skills are preferred:

    • Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment and HPE networking equipment
    • Windows Operating System knowledge
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
    • Other desired skills and experience:
      • Knowledge of Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM)
      • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
      • Enhanced Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS)
      • Replacement or integration of multiple systems in the National Airspace System (NAS).
      • GUI development experience for the X-Windows environment.
  • Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.
  • Work located at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City Airport, New Jersey.
  • Work may require extensive travel (~ 50%+) to FAA airport locations in the US when scheduling dictates.
