Network Engineer (Remote Eligible)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, setup and configure complex WAN and LAN environments
• Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, SD-WAN, VPN, QoS)
• Perform network device maintenance and system upgrades including firmware, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, tracking and success of changes made to client and service provider network infrastructure
• Provide Level-2/3 remote and onsite support and troubleshooting for network related issues, including hardware, software applications, VOIP phones and security systems and other devices
• Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives
• Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors etc. to provide technical assistance and support
• Project scoping and technical plan development
• Project task execution
• Testing of proposed solutions within lab environments
• Perform high level network and security assessments
• Engaging with clients and developing their network and communication initiatives
• Capturing client requirements
• Create review and maintain network documentation, including detailed network diagrams
• Keep project and service tickets current and up to date on a daily basis
• Interact with non-technical staff in an effective manner and understand technology security and best practices
• Liaison with vendors and internal and external resources to ensure proper completion or escalation of issues
• Demonstrate commitment to providing outstanding customer service
• Assume additional duties as defined by supervisor and executive management

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Required

• Hands-on firewall experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools with an emphasis on FortiGate
• One expert certification (such as Cisco CCNA and CCNP and/or Fortinet NSE 4 or higher)
• 5+ years professional experience in a computer or systems related field

Preferred

• University degree in Computer Science or a related subject
• Two expert certifications as identified by Aureon Technology technical certification list
• 7+ years' professional experience in IT networking

• Must have general understanding of TCP/IP application flows, such as HTTP(S), Email, etc.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of hardware, software, and communication technologies

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Indoor work primarily in office environment, both company and customer
• Frequent utilization of manual dexterity and visualizing of computer screen
• Occasional bending, carrying, squatting, twisting, and lifting up to 60 pounds independently
• Occasional travel by vehicle
