Network Engineer (Remote Opportunity)
Job Description
VetsEZ is seeking a Network Engineer to support the Data Migration and syndication efforts within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO).Â
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:Â
- Design, implement, and maintain a secure and scalable network infrastructure, including Cisco routers and switches, F5 load balancers, and Palo Alto firewallsÂ
- Perform network configuration, upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and securityÂ
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, particularly with IRIS Enterprise Cache Protocol (ECP) and external networksÂ
- Conduct network monitoring and analysis using tools like NetScout, WireShark, and Splunk to identify and address anomalies, ensuring encryption and data integrityÂ
- Configure and manage firewall rules, VPNs, and security policies, including regular updates and firmware upgradesÂ
- Manage and optimize server load balancing, SSL offloading, and certificate managementÂ
- Ensure high availability, redundancy, and failover capabilities across network systems, including active/passive configurationsÂ
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network solutions with business and technical requirementsÂ
Requirements:Â
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related fieldÂ
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a focus on Cisco, F5, and Palo Alto productsÂ
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VPNsÂ
- Experience with network security practices, including firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryptionÂ
- Proficiency with network monitoring and analysis tools such as NetScout, WireShark, and SplunkÂ
- Experience with VA or federal organizations is a plusÂ
- Familiarity with Data Migration and Syndication within the VA preferredÂ
- Ability to travel as needed and obtain a government clearanceÂ
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with VA or other federal organizations.
- Familiarity with Data Migration and Syndication within the VA.
- Ability to obtain a Government clearance.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or any related certification.
