Network Engineering Intern

This position is to Intern with the Network Engineering Core Infra team within the Intelsat Network Engineering organization. The successful candidate will be paired with one of the Senior Network engineers to help with testing, configuring, and documenting various components used in IntelsatOne Network infrastructure systems. This role will entail product and vendor research, database entry, SharePoint manipulation, and lab environment work.
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the minimum requirements outlined below)

1. Preferred Major in STEM Fields (Computer Science, systems engineering, EE, Telecommunications, Information Systems etc.)
2. Good Communication and Documentation skills.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and SharePoint
4. Basic understanding on Network components is a plus.
5. Basic understanding of scripting/programming languages like python, Java and C.

Job Responsibilities

1. The candidate will be exposed to Network components like routers and switches, both new and existing
2. The candidate will help configure and deployment of new services in the LAB as well as POP and teleports under the supervision of Senior Staff.
3. The candidate will observe and document new configuration and testing, validation, and handoff procedures
4. The candidate will be given access to a lab environment to validate template configurations and testing procedures
5. Utilize Excel, Visio, SharePoint, and other design software tools to assist in documenting findings
6. Become familiar with and expand knowledge of routing protocols and Service provider network Architectures via self-study guides and online resources.

Minimum Requirements:

• Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
  • Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24+ credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
  • Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
  • May 2023 graduate
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
• Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite
• 3.0 GPA or above preferred

Summer Intern Program Description:

• 12 weeks starting on Monday, May 22nd, 2023 through August 11 th , 2023
• Schedule - 40 hours/week, Monday- Friday, 9 - 5 or regular core hours
• Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)
• Paid internship
