Network Planning Engineer I
Job Description
Cox Communications is searching for a Network Planning Engineer I who will be responsible for analyzing and modeling needs for Cox Critical Facility. This role will be responsible for the following:
This position will employ or engage with the following technologies: Various NMS (Network Management Software) tools and other application platforms such as Excel, FIRM, POInt, Oracle Database, , Granite, Hadoop, R, SAS, Alteryx, and SQL. Must understand network infrastructure such as DOCSIS, broadband services, RF multi-gigabit optical ethernet. Join a diverse engineering team working to transform data, voice and video networks for the next generation.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Related Tasks
• Assist in code development to automate reports and template
• Provide statistical analyses to assist leadership to actionable insights
• With guidance, presents data and provides recommendations to department leadership
• Provide input to leadership on performance issues and operational process improvements
• Uses and may program statistical analysis software
Minimum:
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as 4 years' experience in a related field
• Robust communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
• Experience in researching and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
• Experience working with large data sets, analysis and methods
• Experience developing automated reporting
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications in a work setting with strong knowledge in Excel
• Experience in digital cable systems
• Robust communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
Preferred
• BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or Technology related field
• Knowledge in process development
• R/SAS/Alteryx and SQL or similar analytical database and coding skills
• Experience debugging analytical code and processes
• Knowledge in telecommunication but not required

- Critical Facility:
- Forecast Power, HVAC and Space utilization across the enterprise
- Learn and assist CFGM (Critical Facility Growth Model) which is an internal tool
- Lead and host Critical Facility Quarterly Program Planning session
- Continue Agile Product Development on CFGM to ensure planning model is accurate and updated
- Leadership Readouts on current status of all Critical Facilities
- Work with boundary partners to collect CF related input to ingest into the model
- Data management across multiple tools
- Maintain CFGM DB
- Build tactical plans for CF

- Understands facility capability to ensure capacity and efficiency of the planned designs
- Understand current critical facility specifications to build different models and growth projections
- Evaluate and plan optimal capacity based on equipment requirements
- Gather data required to calculate CFGM
- Works with corporate and regional engineers to operationalize and document plans
- Assist to interface with boundary partners related models and data and provide growth trends
- Identifies, researches, and resolves discrepancies in analytical procedures or cross-functional methods
- Utilizes applications for measuring, analyzing, modeling and forecasting near term capacity needs. Build financial impact and related performance. Application engagement in Hadoop, R, Alteryx, SAS, and SQL.
