OptumRx is looking for a curious, adaptable, and self-motivated Healthcare Economics Analyst to join our Contract Management team. This role is responsible for the financial well-being of contracts by applying analytical tools, contract knowledge and big data to forecast, report, trouble shoot and identify areas of opportunity. The ideal candidate is a proactive individual who can move independently, learn quickly, communicate effectively and collaborate with internal and external teams. In addition, (s)he is comfortable interacting with different levels within the organization from peers to leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead and perform financial analysis and modeling as it relates to setting prescription drug prices
  • Conduct financial and network pricing modeling, analysis and reporting
  • Concisely summarize and communicate the results of complex analytics
  • Lead projects to completion by contributing to database creation, statistical modeling and financial reports
  • Predict emerging customer needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them
  • Participate in the development new ideas, products and/or approaches
  • Proactively identify anomalies in drug pricing, client performance, utilization patterns, or prescription claims data
  • Collaborate independently with other department SMEs

Years of post-high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to years of experience
Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of analytical experience in financial analysis, health care pricing, network management, health care economics or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in creating and using financial modeling tools, spreadsheets, and information acquisition tools including experience in interpreting and/or displaying financial modeling results to inform actionable decisions
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in performing financial impact analysis, risk management and data manipulation
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Excel
  • Beginner level proficiency in SQL

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with contracts fundamentals (i.e., new agreements, amendments, renewals, upsells)
  • Python, R, or SAS for analytical model development experience
  • PBM experience
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Alteryx and/or Tableau
  • Intermediate level of SQL or other relational database solution experience
  • Proven excellent verbal and writing communication skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
