Job Description

Job Summary: The Network Software Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network automation solutions in an industrial IoT development environment. The ideal candidate will be a visionary with a passion for creating a better experience for users of Rockwell Networks and should have experience with Python, network protocols, Cisco/Stratix switching technology, some front-end development as well as an understanding of network automation and orchestration.

The Network Software Engineer will be primarily responsible for creating network software & automation solutions to enable the users of Rockwell Networks to fully leverage the capabilities of our robust networking portfolio. In addition to identifying opportunities for network automation, this Engineer will also help execute Rockwell's Network Management vision. This Engineer will also be expected to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. This Engineer may also be asked to assist in testing and support of Stratix switches as well as other Rockwell Industrial Network Products. This is also a great opportunity for someone that is interested in growing into a Technical leadership role.

Position: Network Software Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for driving and leading the Network Automation & Software efforts within the Networks Organization
  • Working to Improve the Stratix AOP
  • Helping to design/develop Network management software
  • Leveraging APIs to extrapolate information for network telemetry
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of network automation solutions for industrial IoT environment
  • Collaborating with other teams to ensure the automation solutions meet the needs of the organization
  • Identifying and troubleshooting network automation issues
  • Keeping up to date with new automation technologies and industry trends
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Become a Subject-matter-expert for Stratix FW and CIP implementation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years Engineering experience, preferably in an Industrial Role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Proven experience in at least two of the following languages JavaScript, C++, C#, Python, Java
  • CCNA or equivalent certifications is a plus
  • Experience with Stratix Switches or other Industrial IoT Switching Platform
  • Strong understanding of data-structures and algorithms
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming
  • Experience with network management, automation and orchestration
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, STP, HSRP and others
  • Experience with network telemetry and monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of Industrial Protocols PRP, HSR, DLR, MRP
  • Experience with APIs and automation frameworks
  • Experience with Stratix Switches
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong experience with Network infrastructure and Network security is a plus
  • Experience with Industrial IoT and Industry 4.0 is a plus

This position is ideal for an experienced software engineer who is passionate about learning to apply software engineering skills to IoT Networking technology with a goal towards enabling our customers to leverage software to improve the efficiency and reliability of Industrial IoT Networks to enable the Connected Enterprise. The Network Automation Engineer will play a critical role in helping the organization implement advanced Network solutions that will drive business success through delivering Robust Network Management and Orchestration Systems.
