Segra is searching for a dynamic and experienced Linux System Administrator (Segra Title: Network Sustainment Engineer II). This is a mostly remote opportunity focusing on Linux systems administration rather than a network engineering role.

Role Overview:

This position provides in-depth support of the company's Transport, Packet, and Management Networks and OSS functions. Will have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within one of the functional areas of the organization identified in the Skill Discipline Matrix below. Design, develop, test, and implement all components, equipment, and software within the functional area of the organization. Performs administrative work relating to projects and assignments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in systems engineering, administration, or support.
  • Must have prior experience with Linux. This is a Linux system administration role rather than a network engineering position.
  • Must have prior Telecommunications experience to be considered.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Linux OS, Python, SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), Radius, TACACS, Syslog, Velo Cloud SD-WAN, and VMware

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 4-6 years professional level experience.
  • 4-6 years deploying and managing OSS systems, network operations, or engineering environment or related job.
  • Understanding of the OSS disciplines in the Skill Matrix.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with good organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have effective interpersonal skills to interact successfully with customers, management, and team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Must be able to prioritize and re-prioritize as needed, in a fast-paced working environment, especially when dealing with time-sensitive issues and mandated deadlines.
