Network Systems Engineer

Overview
The Gogo Business Aviation Network Systems Engineer will be responsible for the sustaining engineering and operational maintenance of Gogo's 4G/5G converged core. With an emphasis on sustaining engineering, you will work closely with development engineering teams to continuously improve our systems and service. Focusing on operational enablement, you will enable teams with the capabilities they need to provide the highest levels of support for our customers.

How will you make a difference?

• Enhance systems while working collaboratively with other engineering teams
• Administer systems, configurations, and business integrations
• Provide advanced levels of escalated support and participate in complex investigations
• Maintain, analyze, and further enhance core fault alerting and performance metrics
• Deliver and enhance scripts used to interface with business reporting, tools, billing systems and health check solutions
• Interface with business and development teams supporting product enhancement initiatives
• Ensure highly available services by regularly testing fault scenarios and exercising systems
• Conduct training, provide support resources, enable operational teams
• Support daily operations of Gogo's most advanced connectivity services

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years' experience managing highly available services and systems - preferably in a service provider setting
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the U.S.

Required Skills, Experience and Talents

• Experience administering core NFs in a cloud-native environment - AMF, SMF, UPF, AUSF, PCF, UDM, AAA, MME
• Solid experience Linux OS at an administrative level
• Has worked with Docker containers, Kubernetes and Jenkins automations
• Solid skills with virtualization and VMware setup and maintenance
• Possess strong BASH or Python scripting skills
• Solid skills working with Cisco routers, switches, UCS, Nexus, IOS

Preferred Skills, Experience and Talents

• Familiarity with relevant 3GPP specifications
• Experience capturing and reviewing packets to identify network problems
• Strong service provider-oriented network and systems background
• Understand configuration of VPN tunnels, access lists, network optimization and shaping techniques
• Has worked with multiple vendors during critical escalations.
• Have a track record of being a key contributor in successful projects
• Be able to effectively interface and support all levels of an organization, internally and externally
• Function well and enjoy being a member of a broadly focused technical team

Base Pay:
100,000.00 - 125,000.00 USD Annual
Target Annual Short-Term Incentive:
Bonus Plan at 10% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
