Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Network Systems Engineer to join our team in Hanover, MD. The position is part of a team that provides systems engineering in the Hanover/Linthicum location and will be part of a team that provides Cybersecurity Analysis and Cryptographic Engineering technical expertise.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The Network Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and integrating various functions of network and telecommunications equipment into functional systems using international, U.S., and military standards.
- Documenting equipment layout, taking into account power, cooling, security and functionality.
- Performing end-to- end systems testing.
- Understanding and integrating customer serial and IP encryptors into networks and systems.
- Understanding emerging telecommunications trends and technologies and implementing new technologies as appropriate. Integrating appropriate installation hardware such as equipment racks and necessary cabling.
- Configure, manage, and sustain computer systems and network infrastructure
- Manage, monitor, and control networks (includes security, fault management, configuration, performance, and accounting of computer systems, processes, and networks)
- Troubleshoot networks, computers, and peripheral devices to isolate the causes of failures or problems
- Validate testing and quality assurance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
- Conduct site surveys for IT installations
- Identify and select IT products, tools, services, and infrastructure components
- Consult, task, or coordinate with outside organizations to resolve network, system, server, or other problems
- Analyze problems to determine technical solutions and decide what architectures will be required to solve technical problems and decide what procedures will be required to solve technical problems
- Develop functional, operational, or user requirements
- Translate conceptual designs into technical specifications
- Identify new and existing products, technologies, and/or architectures to solve design, development, and operational problems
- Perform high-level design, specifying system and component performance and interface requirements
- Identify the types and functions of computer and telecommunications network elements, documenting their intercommunications, and mapping physical and logical target networks by graphing their communications
- Plan, manage, and document the implementation, modification, or integration of systems using the principles and key elements of Configuration Management
- Apply concepts of architecture/topology of software/hardware/networks including WANS/CANS/LANS, telecommunication systems, their components and associated protocols and standards
- Apply concepts and principles of computer security and vulnerability analysis
- Apply concepts, principles, theories, and methods for evaluating and testing telecommunications and computer networks.
- Apply concepts, principles, theories, and methods for securing telecommunications and computer networks, and network connectivity (e.g., routing, switching and IP addressing)
- Apply concepts, principles and theories of telecommunications and the components and associated protocols and standards (e .g., transmissions, switching, routing management)
- Manage the implementation of and maintain operation of telecommunications systems
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 14 years of experience or 25 years of total experience
- in lieu of a degree a total of 19 years of relevant experience
Security Clearance Requirements:
- Current and active TS/SCI with polygraph
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
