Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Lead Technical Support Engineer is responsible for installation & removal of cabling, cross connects and maintenance of network devices and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that the network devices & infrastructure and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and values. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts policies, practices, and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installs, terminates, maintains, and troubleshoots network cabling infrastructure including Moves, Adds, and Changes of any network or related equipment.
- Troubleshooting Network Hardware Problems and cable plant issues including Fiber Optic, UTP, STP, etc.
- Fluent in all test equipment and can train other on the use of them: Corning Fusion Splicer, Fluke OTDR, Fluke DTX1800, Fluke Simple fiber, Fluke Link Runner Pro, etc.
- Research and documentation of cable plant, network and wireless infrastructure.
- Knowledge and adherence to wiring standards and their implementation.
- Network hardware configurations for edge network equipment, core network equipment, and Serial-to-IP devices.
- Install network hardware and cable assemblies - copper and fiber.
- Managing contractor access into areas as required.
- Trains junior members on the technical needs of the department.
- Guides team efforts during installation, tear down and support.
- Supports LAN and Wireless Engineers to support the infrastructure.
- Perform all other job-related duties as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 4 years networking infrastructure experience.
- Associate degree in information systems/Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
PREFERRED:
- Experience working in a similar resort setting.
