Network Technical Lead Engineer
KBR is looking for a Network Technical Lead Engineer (NTLE) to support and lead multiple Engineering tasks in our NASA mission operations environment. The Network Technical Lead Engineer will participate in designing appropriate technical solutions for mission services using scalable technologies in a mission critical environment. You should be able to explore existing systems for reuse and guide the team in designing new systems with appropriate technology preferably scalable Software Define Network (SDN) based technologies. The NTLE will work with systems engineers, IT Security, mission leaders, and flight operations engineers in designing, planning, and developing the solution and/or network design requirements and have an opportunity to create innovative strategies to ensure smooth running of your product, prioritizing network improvements to address compliance and improve resiliency.
The Network Technical Lead Engineer position requires someone who is a player-coach, managing technical aspects of a team of network engineers and collaborative work with other support groups for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of the network and security infrastructure for ensuring a stable/secure/highly available network computing environment in support of critical mission operations. This position will maintain, configure, and install local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), data communications network equipment in a primarily Juniper environment. You will set standards for network design and configurations, along with setting baselines for our technology stack.
We need a leader to guide how system and product development should be performed given our operational environment requirements.
Coaching, mentoring, and staff development are a high priority for this position. We need someone who can help a group of network engineers be more efficient and effective. Remove the bottlenecks, get everyone on the same page, and turn them loose. You should be someone who wants to make the people around you better.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, coordinate and communicate team activities and status in a fast-paced environment
- Provide networking support to systems administrators running Windows and Linux-based operating systems, on both physical and virtual platforms
- Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems
- Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups and vulnerability scanner results
- Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access
- Manage vendor maintenance renewal contracts
- Perform network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software
- Support large-scale system/network security management capabilities, including vulnerability management, user/network access control, secure remote-access, intrusion detection/prevention and multi-factor authentication
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or IT related field
- 10 + years of relevant experience & 5 + years of experience in a leadership/management role
- In lieu of formal education 18 + years of relevant experience including leadership experience
- Possess a related security or network certification (Security+, CISSP, CCNA)
Must be able to clear a public trust investigation to meet eligibility requirements for access to controlled information
Preferred Experience & Skills:
Ability to take a leading role in supporting and building network designs to mission operations
Juniper (a plus)
Planning and deploying solutions in AWS and Azure
Knowledge Spine/Leaf architecture
Deep understanding of Software Defined Networking principles
Knowledge of BGP, EVPN and VXLAN
Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management for end-to-end technical designs, and configuration strategy
Experience mentoring network engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective
Experience influencing network engineers to learn and adapt to best practices within your team
Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
