Job Summary:
The New Accounts Specialist's primary responsibilities are providing a high-quality service experience to existing and prospective customers during the account opening process for deposit accounts including checking, savings, money market, certificates of deposit, and IRAs. New Account Specialists communicates professionally and courteously with customers to gather all appropriate information to open accounts. They address customer concerns, educate them on the benefits of our products and services and respond with solutions to meet their needs.
The ideal candidate will have prior banking experience in opening new accounts, and maintaining CDs and IRA, with exceptional communication and analytical skills. They will be detail oriented, accurate and efficient to provide best in class service to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represents the bank in a professional manner, both in dress and in actions, in person and by phone, email, mail.
- Responds to email/voicemail/missed calls/other communication in a timely manner and with a helpful attitude.
- Cross-sells financial products and services of the bank to fit customer needs.
- Opens new checking, savings, money market, and certificate of deposit accounts for consumers and businesses and individual retirement accounts.
- Maintains and services certificates of deposit and individual retirement accounts.
- Analyzes applicant evaluations and risk responses to identify and mitigate fraud.
- Initiates wire transfers and cashier's checks.
- Adds joint signers on business and personal accounts.
- Updates and stores business resolutions, beneficial ownership, and legal documents.
- Makes outbound calls and take incoming calls from applicants.
- Provides appropriate account letters and disclosures to applicants.
- Stores all required documentation for third-party reviews and audits.
- Processes new account payments and ensure proper deposits.
- Answers basic inquiries regarding interest rates, fees and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations, and privacy policies.
- Performs simple financial calculations.
- Handles miscellaneous operation duties accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Retains a thorough knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma / GED
- 6 months to twelve months similar or related experience

- Proficient computer operating skills.
- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-year prior banking experience.
- CD/IRA experience with a knowledge of terms and regulations surrounding these account types.
