Role Summary
• To exhibit a fair and consistent management approach, following the principles outlined in The Magna Employee's Charter to ensure a satisfied and productive employee workplace.• To persuade and support the following of Company policies and business objectives in the daily management of the operations of the Company.• To identify growth and developmental opportunities and on-going training needs of engineering personnel, which provide for an overall positive working environment.• To observe Norplas health and safety objectives and support Company directed health and safety directives which provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Norplas employees. • Manage/supervise assigned Program Managers and Product Engineers in Chrysler Group, Also, all activities therein by meeting or exceeding the needs of our customers, both internally and externally:
a) while developing product from concept to production;
b) by providing tools that are safe, of sound design, and capable of manufacturing quality products according to customer requirements and the Norplas Tooling Manual;
c) by promoting the development of new processes and techniques that improve quality, productivity and customer satisfaction;
d) by supporting continuous improvement in APQP concepts; and
e) by developing procedures and work instructions that support APQP and TS-16949 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1) Support development of the product by effective product quality plans including control plans, FMEA's, timing charts, open issue reports, process and product validation, flow charts and all APQP requirements.
2) Interface with the Program Manager, Design Lead to ensure a successful hand-off for program execution post OK to Tool Part Data release.
3) Ensure customer satisfaction by providing design and technical assistance in design reviews and presentations as well as competitive estimates for tooling and product.
4) Ensure Norplas DFM objectives are met
5) Attend all customer PDTs with program managers to provide oversight up to, not including 1st NS build MRD. Then periodic there-after
6) Excellent applied knowledge of GM and Chrysler product development and product approval systems
7) Lead and supervise assigned Program Managers, Product Engineers, Determine and assign program assignments for all previously mentioned APQP engineering personnel, provide direction and technical assistance as needed.
8) Conduct performance reviews for assigned APQP engineering personnel in accordance with Company policy.
9) Assist in the hiring of new APQP program managers and product engineers
10) Mentor new program managers as required.
11) Assist in determining and maintaining appropriate resource levels for current program needs.
12) Support manufacturing departments as required in new programs, current production, and executing customer initiated engineering changes.
13) Provide support for error proofing and continuous improvement activities.
14) Assist in development of methods, procedures and work instructions to successfully manage:
a. competitive quoting for product and tools
b. effective cost tracking and launching tools within planned costs
c. launch of new product
15) Participate as a member of cross-functional teams for APQP, continuous improvement, and other corrective action as required.
16) Support the internal design review meetings
17) Responsible for the root cause analysis and corrective actions of APQP related quality issues for programs which have been managed by assigned program managers
18) Assist the Norplas New Business Manager and Sales Administration Manager in new program quoting and tech reviews
19) Ensure that all accidents are properly reported and accident investigations are completed within 24 hours.
20) Perform other duties and special projects as required.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Minimum seven years program management experience required.• Must have strong leadership ability• Strong applied fascia design knowledge
