As a member of the North American Field Organization, you will work directly with industry-leading semiconductor, consumer electronics and system companies to deploy Cadence's market leading solutions and to provide services to support customer design challenges. In this customer-facing role you will provide front-line technical support, will work with the sales team to come up with innovative solutions to address our customers' most challenging technical problems and contribute to customer design and methodology engagements. This is an entry-level position that is part of the Cadence New College Graduate Rotational Program. This program is a one-year immersion designed to accelerate the career growth and development of highly driven recent college graduates who want to succeed in a rapidly growing industry. You'll work with experienced EDA professionals and rotate across four different business groups in our Field Organization, with a personalized curriculum and valuable mentorship opportunities designed to help you develop the technical and soft skills necessary to advance your career at Cadence. At the end of successfully completing this immersion program, you will be assigned a regular full-time position as an application engineer in the North America Field Organization.

Key responsibilities in this position are to:

  • Gain hands-on training of applications used for Digital Design, Physical Design, Analog Layout, Digital Simulation, Advanced Verification, Hardware Emulation, or FPGA prototyping
  • Willingness to learn or build on existing skills to do the following with Cadence design tools:
    • Become the go-to person for technical inquiries and support for Cadence design tools
    • Provide technical assistance with Cadence R&D to help support advanced design flows
    • Improve design methodologies and develop new ones that leverage Cadence technology and services.
    • Participate in customer evaluations/benchmarks on Cadence's solutions to establish technology differentiation and assert Cadence competitive advantages.
  • Learn how to design and implement digital and analog circuits using Cadence design tools to be able to contribute to design services projects.
  • Write technical literature such as application notes and technical articles.


In this position you will develop technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Design fundamentals such as architecture, micro-architecture, HDLs, Synthesis and timing
  • Verification skills such as UVM testbench architecture, development, and debug
  • Embedded software development and HW/SW codesign and co-verification
  • UNIX , C/C++, and scripting languages such as Perl, TCL, Python
  • Physical design experiences in the digital implementation domain including Floorplan, P&R, STA, Physical verification, DFM
  • Sign-off tools for STA, IR drop, power analysis, SI analysis
  • Package design and layout


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science or any STEM related field
  • Experience using EDA tools in general and Cadence tools specifically a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Understanding of any programming languages and/or scripting languages such as Perl, TCL, Python is a plus
