New Product Development Manager
Basic Scope/Purpose: (The job's primary purpose or contribution to the department or organization.)
Provides leadership and direction to Product Development Engineering team and lab personnel that support the organization. Introduces new technology and or concepts in an effort to create sustainable competitive advantage. Responsible for the lifecycle activities of all product categories. Facilitates the product development using the Stage Gate process Contributes technical expertise, innovativeness and sound scientific practices to any development efforts within the organization; drives product innovation and technology advancement. Manages Intellectual Property for Fenner Precision Polymers.

• Aggressively pursues new technology to create competitive advantages, driving the Intellectual Property portfolio of the company. Provides direction and leads projects or facilitates development of new or enhanced processes.
• Deliver projects on time and at budgeted cost.
• Leverages technical knowledge inside and outside the Fenner organization.
• Owns and facilitates the Stage Gate process and provides regular updates to key Stakeholders on the NPD progress.
• Develop and maintain the role of technical expert in area of focus for all facets of existing products.
• Drive product technology advancements and innovations by investigating, creating and bringing in new materials, processes, designs and procedures into the organization
• Provide technical and innovative support to ADS projects, Applications Engineering, Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing.
• Develop and maintain state of the art technology competencies within the area of focus.
• Support team members in their development and innovative efforts; provide constructive input and ideas for constant improvement of the team and team practices.
• Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
• Approves and submits proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds or allocates funds from department budget.
• Recommends budgets to management; including staff utilization, technology, facility and equipment requirements or improvements.
• Negotiates contracts with consulting firms to perform research or other applicable studies or support.
• Develops associates through identifying needs and opportunities for growth. Provides timely performance feedback to each individual team member.

Environmental, Health & Safety Accountabilities: (The level of safety accountability needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.
• Provide leadership, direction, and resources essential to maintain EHS policies, rules and work instructions as the fundamental priority in all operations
• Actively participate in and support associate participation in EHS program activities
• Provide timely and appropriate follow-up to recommendations made by associates
• Review and revise policies, rules and work instructions to adapt to changing business needs
• Set a good example by following EHS safe work practices, policies, rules, and work instructions Engage the workforce through safety contacts and floor walks that address housekeeping, safety inspections and safety observations
• Ensure hazards, near miss, injuries, and unsafe acts and conditions are reported through the incident database
• Reinforce safety margins through active participation in incident investigations, corrective actions managed shift changes, toolbox talks, pre-tasking, STOP WORK, and task scanning.

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field required. Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
• 5-10 years of related experience and/or training.
• 3-5 years experience in a managerial role
• 3-5 years of experience in a NPD role
• Lean Experience a plus.
