What you will do

  • This individual will be a member of the Critical Environments Team which designs, develops and supports building automation system (BAS) products for critical spaces such as hospitals, laboratories, and clean rooms. The product line includes room pressure controls, venturi air valves, fume hood controls, and other adjacent products currently in development.
  • Activities include developing design concepts, prototype generation, drawing creation, testing, gathering, and analyzing data to support design decisions, and maintaining records of the design process. You will work with other internal functions and external resources as the need arises, including manufacturing. You will be involved throughout the product development process from the ideation, to launch, to support after launch.

How you will do it

  • In this role, you will work closely with the engineering team to develop products, coordinate verification testing as well as integration with the hardware. You will also work with other parts of the organization to gather product requirements, support field trials and to support manufacturing ramp-up.
  • Form hard-working, self-directed technical teams that take high-level product concepts and drive them through the evaluation and exploration of potential solutions.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Program Management and Engineering Management organizations to balance scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources and risk.
  • Report and review the progress of project(s) with team members; formalize communication plan to ensure timely, accurate updates are provided to appropriate partners.
  • Develop and follow a project management plan; set team project goals, plan project results, and understand dependencies, establish project schedules and milestones; lead all aspects of project schedule including risk with critical focus on quality.
  • Apply formal hardware and software engineering, and project management processes and standard methodologies to ensure high-quality product delivery.
  • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning, maintaining a keen focus on project-level needs while working within the framework of larger, multi-project and program business objectives.
  • Thrive in the front-end phase with ambiguous definitions, fast direction changes, while managing technical risk and uncertainty.
  • Manage geographically dispersed teams across multiple physical locations and time zones.
  • Complete multiple complex projects from concept through requirements, design, prototyping, development, testing and deployment.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in informative opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations and training.

What we look for

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or closely related field required.
  • At least 10 years' experience using the full Electronics Hardware Development Lifecycle to develop highly technical, electronics hardware-based/embedded systems-based products and solutions in an engineering organization.
  • At least 5 years direct experience as a Project Manager.
  • Must have managed small to medium sized teams of engineers through the full Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience organizing and leading teams through the concept definition phase.
  • Experience with various development methodologies including waterfall, iterative and agile methods.
  • Familiarity with product/system deployment activities and management a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, logical and project management skills. High level of personal credibility at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in changing communication style based on audience (technical, non-technical, executive through individual contributor.)
  • Ability to clearly convey concepts / solutions to the business in appropriate terms.
  • Ability to manage multiple, potentially changing priorities and effectively coordinate activities across teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing individuals and teams without formal organizational control.
  • Experience in driving electronic hardware design from concept through NPI product introduction into production facilities.

Preferred

  • MS or MBA preferred.
  • PMP certification a plus.
