Overview:

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Technical Designer - Sweater to join the RTW Technical Design Department based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently work for Sweater category by determining and setting all garment knitting stitch construction and spec standards from Development to final Production stage.
  • Collaborates with Design, Product Development and Production team to understand the development process from Design Concept to bulk production.
  • Manage Tech packs from development to production process by season.
  • Coordinate daily with Tech Director/Manager to prioritize the submission of Tech Pack.
  • Spec prototypes throughout Pre-Production samples to prepare fitting.
  • Attends fitting with Knitwear Design Director, Tech Design Director/Manager to record fit comments and must implement all fit corrections with clear and comprehensive tech packs.
  • Daily communicate and answer with teams and overseas factories for all technical construction and spec.
  • Manage workload and keep the Calendar to achieve Team’s Goa.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience of Design or Technical Design in women’s Knitwear category. Some men’s knitwear experience will be a Plus.
  • Must have Luxury or Contemporary brand work experience.
  • Strong knowledge in Sweater yarn, knitting stitch, construction, and finishing.
  • Strong communication skills in terms of written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Understanding of High-end brand’s design integrity, aesthetic, and concept/vision to achieve the goal.
  • Proven track record to handle workload independently, proactively, and consistently at all stages of product development.
  • Strong fit experience for sweater category.
  • Keen/trained eye for garment proportion and design aesthetic.
  • Strong detail orientation, self-motivated teammate with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Centric PLM, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft excel, word, and Outlook.

SALARY & BENEFITS/WHAT WE OFFER: 

The compensation for this position ranges from $80,000-$100,000 (annually). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience.
