You will partner with the US Space Force (USSF) to ensure mission success of the Next Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) space assets that defend against, defeat, and deter aggressive adversary behavior in space. As the Next Generation OPIR Space Chief systems Engineer, you will provide leadership and oversight of the development, integration, and testing of the elements of the GEO and Polar Systems. You will be a critical resource in outpacing potential adversaries and ensuring the safety and security of our Nation and allies. The importance of this mission area creates a dynamic, fast-paced customer environment that prizes innovation and excellence.
Work Model: This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in El Segundo, CA.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$170,000 - $189,000 - $208,000
Pay Basis: Annual

What You'll Be Doing
As part of the Aerospace Next Gen OPIR leadership team you will provide the following functions:
- Support USSF OPIR Space Systems acquisitions
- Liaison with Space Force and contractors' chief engineer's offices and other Aerospace chief engineers
- Provide oversight and technical direction
- Lead or support special investigations / studies
- Support or lead technical readiness assessments and briefings to senior management
- Provide leadership to identify technical and programmatic risks, and strategically plan for their mitigation
What You Need to be Successful - Sr Project Leader
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong technical skills backed by a Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering/scientific and program experience.
- An active TS/SCI clearance , which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of contractors, customers, and corporate staff
- Skills and experience in systems engineering, integration and test, space vehicle hardware/software, and mission assurance
- Proficient in acquisition processes and risk management
- Experience working cooperatively in a team environment as both a leader member
How You Can Stand Out
It would be great if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
- Experience with the SSC/SNW customer, missions, and programs
- Familiarity with the FFRDC advisory role
