NLP Data Scientist

We are seeking a driven data scientist to enhance our industry-leading algorithms in risk adjustment and spearhead the expansion of our product offerings into new healthcare segments. In this pivotal role, you will have the opportunity to pioneer the development of innovative AI models that address a diverse array of challenges in healthcare. Successful candidates will play a crucial role in advancing the efficiency of the healthcare system, supporting stakeholders in care delivery and administration in their practices, and positively impacting the lives of millions of patients.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field.
• Proficient with Python.
• Experience with standard data analysis toolkits such as Pandas, SQL, Spark.
• Experience with Tensorflow, PyTorch, and/or Keras for language modeling and/or computer vision.
• Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals, especially related to modern NLP techniques.
• Skilled at building machine learning models to address specific issues and clearly explaining the results to team members and stakeholders.
• Passionate about addressing real-world business challenges with AI technology, rather than solely focusing on model performance metrics.

Responsibilities:

• Work with a team to develop novel AI models across multiple healthcare domains to enhance the effectiveness of our products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of data scientists and engineers to build end-to-end machine learning pipelines.
• Define key performance metrics aligned with business objectives.
• Take initiative to continuously improve models over time.

After 3 months, you will…

• Develop a keen understanding of Apixio's data distribution, enabling you to extract more insightful analyses
• build, test, deploy, and monitor a novel algorithm on our platform, from encrypted data to a live deployment.
• gain a comprehensive understanding of the technologies underpinning our platform.

After 1 year, you will…

• Be independent in reading literature and doing research to design novel models for new and existing products.
• Have ownership over models internally, communicating with product managers, customer success managers, and engineering to make the model and the encompassing product succeed.
• Be a subject matter expert on Apixio’s models and a source from which other teams can seek information and recommendations.
