Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- While learning the NOC Operator position and how to navigate the Company’s systems and processes this position utilizes self-study, standard operating procedures and reviews existing documentation to accomplish tasks.
- Provides support for network communications equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and IPsec VPNs.
- Under management supervision, prioritizes and address events that are detected by monitoring systems.
- Handles facilities provisioning (installing racks, setting up power, installing Ethernet, fiber and console, and cables networks/server equipment). Handles facilities maintenance (monitoring and management of air-conditioning, UPS, generators, and power distribution).
- Follows documented procedures to resolve issues; asks clarifying questions as needed.
- Greets and collaborates with vendors for equipment maintenance and repair coordination.
- Creates documentation for common issues and resolutions.
- Escalate issues and communicate details succinctly.

Client Responsibilities
This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required. Must have 0 – 2+ years’ related experience working with computers. If no related experience, should have related technical computer training through an accredited program and/or related technical certification(s). This position is for 3rd shift; Friday- Tuesday from 11:00 PM PST- 8:00 AM PST.
Computer Skills – the following basic computer skills are required:
- Beginners MS Windows, Linux, other operating system knowledge
- Familiarity with Patch Management
- Familiarity with Virtual Infrastructure and Hypervisors
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Related technical certifications a plus.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to ask for relevant information to help diagnose issues.
- Ability to multi-task, good time management and ability to prioritize workload.
- Good interpersonal skills and willingness to work as a team player.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must have the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Work Location
This position must work on-site at the Southwest Regional Office (SRO) for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; being available for face-to-face interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders. Remote work is not an option for these purposes.
Working Hours
This is a non-exempt position requiring one to be able to work overtime from time to time in order to get the job done. This may be changed at any time to meet the needs of the business. The NOC is a 24/7 operation and there are multiple shifts including over nights and weekends.
Travel - This position may require domestic travel as well as attendance at various local conferences and meetings.
