DESCRIPTION
As Node Capability Director for Design Standards, you will be one of the key leaders in driving the mission of enabling reliable speed, innovation, increased capacity, flexibility and productivity across Nike's North American distribution (node) network. As such this function will help drive balanced value to Nike's consumer promise of service, cost, convenience, quality and sustainability!
The Director will drive the end-to-end design standardization across Nike's North American distribution nodes as part of the broader supply chain network. The North American DC network is 20+ centers, with a mix of owned and 3PL operated facilities with a diverse scope: from regional service centers to large omni-channel logistics campuses. With the fast-paced evolution of Nike's node network the Director will orchestrate a variety of node design standardization work across the Geo: from brown field retrofits to small and large green field node designs, both Nike owned facilities as well as with 3PL's.
The prime focus of this role will be to accelerate the process of new Node Design blueprints using Nike Logistics systems, while ensuring simplicity, flexibility, scalability, and repeatability. The Director will also give direction to and share distribution subject matter expertise with virtual and x-functional teams of Geo Based Distribution Process Managers, Product Managers, Business Analysts and Technology experts in strong collaboration with all Global Distribution Development leaders and their design teams to achieve long-term sustainable (distribution) success for Nike and its consumers.
We strongly believe in our node design principles driven by our lean inspired NLS philosophy (Nike Logistics System), which is based on 3 overarching principles: simple, flexible and scalable. The systemic NLS design approach starts from marketplace requirements supplemented with advanced data analysis and translates these through a broader set of process & infrastructure as well as human system design principles into the most optimal end-to-end product and info flow through our nodes.
To achieve this long-term success the Director will mostly operate in 3 critical design phases of Nike's phase gate process: pre-conceptual design, conceptual design and functional design in strong partnership with the Global teams. Besides the Geo distribution development teams this role will also collaborate closely with among others: Global & Geo Logistics Robotics & Automation teams, the Global & Geo Logistics NLS teams, Global Logistics Product Management, Technology Node teams, Tech Product Management and Supply Chain Innovation (SCI) teams.
