Nonprofit Staff Accountant

What is the role?

The Staff Accountant demonstrates strong attention to detail and consistently generates a high-quality work product within the Finance Department.  The Staff Accountant reports to to the Supervising Senior Accountant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Record cash receipts including donations to the general ledger and journalize transactions.  
• Manage CSE-IT related billing which includes the preparation of monthly CSE-IT invoices and follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable.
• Reconcile all bank accounts and benefit reconciliations monthly.
• Prepare monthly and weekly donation report.
• Provide support and backup to accounts payable, as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining W9’s and obtaining insurance certificates.
• Support 1099 year-end process for vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related field preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably working with non-profits or healthcare clinics.
• Strong understanding of the general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Familiarity with GAAP and understanding of the accounting cycle.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills with experience in financial and variance analysis.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems, preferably Abila MIP.
• Experience with G-Suite Applications.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
• Ability to prioritize and work accurately with close attention to detail, strong time management skills and an ability to work within defined deadlines.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team.

Position Details and Compensation:

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Supervising Senior Accountant. Salary range $70,000- $80,000 DOE, and includes benefits, 403b, and performance-based compensation plans.
