POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Engineer is responsible for executing new product design and development and technical support of current Pulsafeeder products, while working in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, team environment. It is essential the Lead Engineer is well versed in the methods of rapid new product development including project management, mechanical design, engineering modeling and drawing proficiency, stage-gate processes, strong communication skills, and experimental methods and analysis. Demonstrating creativity, problem solving, and independent judgement are routine daily requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Engineers current, new, or derivative products:
- Works cross-functionally to lead product development projects, from concept to launch.
- Develops and executes a new product development plan within the Pulsafeeder stage-gate process.
- Applies creativity and advanced Mechanical Engineering theories, methods, and techniques to achieve reliable and cost-effective designs.
- Is knowledgeable of and designs in compliance with applicable agency standards (e.g., API675, CE, ATEX, IECEx)
- Works hands-on to develop, test, and evaluate product designs.
- Prepares and presents project and technical design reviews.
- Develops design validation test plans. Oversees/performs lab testing and documents test results.
- Works cross functionally to evaluate purchased and manufactured parts.
- Participates in manufacturing work instruction creation and training.
- Assists in the development of customer facing documentation
- Works with Sales, Marketing, and external customers to ensure the product solution meets the customer's expectations and requirements.
- Prepares 3D renderings through specialized software and prepares 2D drawings for specification and commercial requirements.
- Provides expertise in critical review of 3 D and 2 D drawings including detailed dimensioning and tolerancing, using GD&T principles.
- Mentoring approach to less senior team members, sharing experience and knowledge to benefit the overall team growth and contribution.
- Investigates, prepares, and implements engineering change notices.
- Provides technical consultation with factory and field personnel, customers, and distributors.
- Makes intellectual property disclosures and assist company with applications.
- Willing and able to undertake domestic and international travel in support of business needs.
- Assists with other projects as needed.
- Takes initiative and leadership of improvement opportunities. Leads improvement efforts that will benefit the team.
- Helps to capture and build library of reusable knowledge.
- Acts independently to determine how to best support broader department goals
- Provides technical coaching to less-senior team members for the benefit of team development
- Successfully prioritizes and navigate risks to drive decisions and meet project deadlines.
- Actively identifies and actions opportunities for improvement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Experience
- High proficiency in solid modeling and analysis (Solidworks preferred, FEA/CFD)
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems including operation, design, and integration of instrumentation
- 10+ years of experience designing mechanical systems
- Intermediate knowledge of positive displacement pumps, mechanical seals, and electrical instrumentation
- Experience designing for conventional manufacturing methods - sand, investment and die casting, CNC machining and injection molded plastic manufacturing. Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) methods desirable.
- Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies
- Familiarity with API675 agency standards required
- Familiarity with DFSS, DFM, FMEA, tolerance analysis, and Risk Assessment methodologies
- Experience delivering results through collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
Education
- BS in Mechanical Engineering minimum
- MS in Mechanical Engineering desirable
- Minimum 10-15 years related design experience

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $104,700.00 - $157,100.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
