The NPI Engineer I will be responsible for the introduction of new products, new services, and processes to NAM customers. Working closely with the Design Team, Deployment team, Support team, and Sourcing to determine and define manufacturing requirements, hardware requirements, and installation scopes. They will manage HW deliverables, develop schedules, control cost, mitigate risks, track progress against agreed plans, and ensure new products & services are brought to market on time with expected quality and cost performance. This position also includes managing the project from early prototype builds, and managing new product certification and compliance, through the product life cycle.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in early-stage product development, communicate expectations, and facilitate engineering design review meetings between the design team and NAM key stakeholders to ensure the successful capture of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Testing, Installation & Service requirements.
• Apply DFx (manufacturing, quality, sourcing, service, and cost) methods into new product designs for Starbucks and McDonald’s, review engineering drawings and manufacturing pack, and validate engineering samples to ensure all requirements are met before the transition to mass production and supply chain.
• Act as the manufacturing & hardware liaison to the Design team and Operations for resolving technical problems and providing prototyping support.
• Select, validate, and approve off-shelf hardware components and assemblies. Create and maintain HW BOMs.
• Create, manage, and maintain installation and maintenance manuals on time to ensure deployment & installation feedback are accurately captured.
• Conduct hardware change review meetings to ensure all HW changes are reviewed, evaluated, and approved by the change board committee before implementation.
• Provide product and installation training regularly to internal teams and external customers such as end customers, installers, etc.
• Identify areas for improvement that lead to reduced time-to-market, reduced cost, and improved quality.
• Conduct failure analysis to root cause quality issues and field failures, work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to verify and implement corrective actions, document changes, and track effectiveness.

• Effective learning and use of existing tools and processes
• Understand Coates core products and other hardware
• Understand customers’ hardware requirements
• Understand the manufacturing process and build relationships with manufacturing partners
• Manage customers’ new hardware requirements and deliver the results promptly with expected quality and cost.
• Manage and maintain installation manuals to improve installation quality.
• Continue to improve the NPI process to improve time-to-market
Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
· 1-3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
New Production Introduction & Manufacturing
Product development. Digital signage design is preferred.
Hardware component selection, validation & approval
Hardware BOM creation
Field installation in QSR industry is preferred
· Experience with systems/tools:
Proficient in MS Office suite
Experience in using CAD 3D tools such as Solidworks and Inventor is preferred
Experience in using project management tools is preferred
Experience in using ERP tool and Jira tool is preferred
Capabilities:

• Be able to prioritize tasks and work under minimal supervision and pressure
